Chips: 313 | | | Tonypap's mystery box-- now with pictures ok so yesterday I received a "mystery box" from tonypap, filled with all kinds of cool FREE chips and casino stuff. I'm starting this thread to post pics, per his request.
But before I start, I'd like to ask if there's any interest in a roving chiptalk mystery box. Basically, I won't be keeping everything that Tony sent me, so I'm planning to keep a few items, add a few items, and send it on its way to another cter. I can do this like Tony did, with a "first to pm gets it," or if you guys are interested, we could start a list and keep it going. This wouldn't be a big deal, just a way to get rid of some stuff you don't need, and maybe pick up a couple cool items in trade. Keep in mind that anyone who got the box would need to commit to shipping to the next recipient, which might or might not be worth it, since it is a mystery box after all.
Anyways, if you guys are interested, then I'll just post pics of a few things, to preserve the mystery. But if not, then I'll put up pics of everything, so everyone can revel in Tony's generosity.

I'm going to try to get the box off to monkeydog this afternoon (Thursday). Here are some pictures of the stuff that Tony sent me.
A rack of 95 anchor roulettes in pink, light pink, blue, and yellow. I think these were made by RTP. Also two ashtrays, one from Caesar's Palace and one from the Golden Nugget-- selected from a bunch of casino/hotel ashtrays that Tony included:
Tilt prop chips (nice to see that BCC raises the QC bar for their hollywood clients ), Matador sample plaque from europokerchips.com, and some old school chips (bakelite or catalin? and what does the symbol mean?):
Wooden rack of super diamonds-- rack is cut from a single block, nice grain and finish. Don't have any experience with diamonds but these feel pretty good, so I am assuming they are the "nice" ones. Also two packs of canceled Carta Mundi cards from Sunset Station. I'm including a pic of the cards since I've never seen ones like this-- the Aces are marked on all four corners, and 2-10 have the corner numbers inset by a pretty big margin:
And a few more items... no pics to preserve the mystery.

One day we found a geocacheing treasure box hidden on the edge of the property by our cabin. Inside was a bunch of fun trinkets and a little note book with instructions and notes. The instructions said that if you find the "treasure box" you can take something from it, BUT you HAVE TO LEAVE something in its place. Also, whenever somebody found the box, they signed thier name, date, where they were from, and what they left. Some of the trinkets people left were pretty cool, and some were just lame. It was really neat to see how far some people had come to find the geocaching "treasure box".
I think that Josh's idea is great! Here's how I see this could work:
1.The first person to PM the current "mystery box" holder gets it.
2.The current holder has to pay the small shipping cost to send it to the next person (first to PM).
3.Before they send it off, they must put something (chip/gaming related) into the box. They can put 1 or more items in it, it's up to them.
4.Also, before they send it, they must sign the "log book" with their name, date, location (state/country), and what they put in the "mystery box".
5.The next person to get it can take whatever they want from it, BUT they MUST put back the same number of items back into the "mystery box" (ex. you took 3 chips and 1 plaque, you put back in 4 items).
6.Upon filling the "mystery box" and signing the log book, they MUST post a reply to the "mystery box" thread stating they are in posession of it and are ready to send it off, at which time the first to PM that person will be the next to get the "mystery box" sent to them!
Does that sound like it will work? If I ever get the "mystery box" there will definitely be some REALLY COOL stuff added to it! |

Sounds like fun.
It would also be fun to have it end with Tony and let him post what (if any) was left and if any of it was originally his. |

Chips: 313 | | | Re: Tonypap's mystery box Nice to see the response. It looks like monkeydog will be getting the box next. If I see you this weekend, I'll give it to you then-- otherwise, I'll have it in the mail early next week.
Everyone's ideas sound good. I think that chipguide members have a box of traders that they mail around but I don't know how they work it. Being a bit of an anarchist by nature, I tend to be allergic to rules. And I also like the idea of keeping things anonymous... but again that's just personal. Once the box leaves my hands I don't expect to see it again, and I will be pretty much uninterested in its fate. So if you guys have ideas about what would work well for this, please voice your opinion.
And I should say again, when you receive the box, you might find it to be full of interesting and cool things (as I did), or you might find it to be full of worthless crap. Let's make sure that everyone who participates is ok with both possibilities.
Hope everyone has a great fourth! | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
