ATTENTION: NEVER buy from this Ebayer/Chiptalker

Mods, if this needs to be moved to a different forum, I apologize.

I think that the evidence of this person screwing over at least 5 chiptalkers, shown in this thread, is enough to make sure that no one ever buys from him again.

Even if it's a $5 chip on Ebay (and he has a good feedback rating), we'd appreciate it if you could refrain, on pure principle.

Seeing as is was pointed out that in your case, because you mailed a cheque, that it is mail-fraud, are you pursuing legal action? Talk to the post office, and maybe phone his local PD and see what they have to say.

Already had 1 PM who almost got taken by the seller, and was about to pay for MGM quarters. Hopefully no one is out their money like the rest of us are.

I would..

1. File a police report against the seller and then

2. Go to your bank with a copy of the police report and file a fraud report through the bank. They will investigate it and/or get you your money back most of the time, but you will need the police report first I believe.

I used to work for a bank and that is how we handled it there.

Man I ALMOST bought from this guy a couple weeks ago. Something just didn't seem right. Brand new to Chiptalk and you're going to sell TONS of beautiful MGM chips right off the bat (which is exactly like trying to sell a six pack at an AA meeting)?

I wanted to wait to see if he'd add something to the community before I bought from him. Glad I did.

Wow - was I shocked and relieved to see this thread!! I came very very close to pulling the trigger on a purchase of some quarters from this guy. We sent several e-mails back and forth and something didn't quite seem right. He only provided a PO Box, no street address, wouldn't give his eBay id, wouldn't provide references from past sales, etc. and his e-mails took a decidedly negative and almost mean tone when I expressed my concerns. (I still have them - should I post copies?) Looks like my overly cautious nature paid off in this case. I feel terrible for anyone who is out any money. If I can help by providing info please advise. I also wholly support the idea of taking any and all appropriate legal action against this person.

Anyone mind if I post this info on HPT? This douche may be headed there...

Please do!! Make sure to post his ebay info too, so people don't buy from him on ebay.

With my fingers crossed I am hopeful that my transaction will go as I wanted it to. I am one of the 5 people listed in the other thread, but I don't want to say I was screwed over yet because he emailed me yesterday to say they were shipped. There hasn't been enough time in my case to say it was a bad deal. Here's hoping that I am lucky. I will keep you posted as my brother keeps his eye on my mailbox while I am stuck in Northern Canada for the summer.

I spoke with my credit card company today and they said to give it 30 days before I pursue this as fraud. I wish I had done this through an eBay purchase but I am hoping that PayPal and Visa will be helpful enough if this turns out bad.

I had always hesitated in buying a playable set (or part of one) from an individual. It didn't matter if it was a CC&GTCC member, a well known CT member or a random eBayer. This was the first time I took the plunge and now that I am justifibly nervous I can't say I will do it again. I think from here on the well trusted CT Sponsors (The Chip Room and HPC especially) will be my only sources outside of CC&GTCC members that I really trust.
