While this could be the case, it's HIGHLY unlikely, IMO. There are several cases all at the same time, all not getting to the buyer. I think he just thought he could take us for granted, and he DEFINITELY didn't know we'd all find each other here and bring him out.
For instance, I don't know if you read the problem that Bad Hat Harry had. He bought chips on two different occasions for Mike. One of them, a few weeks ago, the chips got there fine. Then, this last time, when the chips didn't come, Mike mentioned after the fact that "oh yeah, I added them into your first shipment". Of course, they weren't there. So Mike wants Bad Hat Harry to believe that he DID include them, but a postal worker opened the package, stole that batch of chips, LEFT the first batch, and sealed it back up and on it's way. Yeah, right.
All of these cases happening at the same time, show someone who is probably running out of money, can't pay his bills or something, and is getting desperate. He certainly didn't expect us all to find out about each other.
