I like many others love the MGM Detroit quarters. I like almost all quarters and 50c chips from casinos. My question is what games are they used for?
I doubt they would be used for poker, but maybe I am wrong. What games do they have the 25 and 50c chips for?
I can confirm the Alberta rake as a usage of the 50 cent fractional. We also use the 50 cent chips for blackjack and roulette (although usually they aren't needed for roulette). They are also used for paying commission in baccarat (like the poker rake, 10% commission paid on all bank bets, rounded up to the nearest 50 cents).
Apparently the 25 cent chips are used in Michigan for Pai Gow. I don't play and have never dealt Pai Gow so I think it is another commission thing.
I usually play 1/2 or 1/3 no-limit holdem and I have seen people have a stack of 0.50 chips for tokes for the dealer and drinks. I have never seen them used for actual games.

50¢ tokes??? I guess it's better than nothing but that's pretty cheapskate IMO.
When I played at Motor City Casino it cost you $.25 in 'commission' for each $5 you win at PaiGow. For instance, if you bet $15 and win, it costs you $.75. Give them a $1 chip and you get a $.25 chip in change.
