This leaves me drooling over Paulsons and casino chips but I just can't afford them. I had to sell my set of Mardi Gras clays for financial reasons (sob) but since then I found these and I'm thrilled with them. ZERO spinners, and I found only ONE inlay that was off center (out of 650 chips) but still acceptable. If anyone else has experience with these type chips, what is your opinion of them, considering the quality/price factor? I have read the hype about how most people cannot distinguish these chips from Paulsons in a blindfold test. Well, I took the test and I could not tell the difference in sound, feel, or stacking. Has anyone else tried this? Now the inlay may not be what I would have designed myself, but chips with stock inlays are usually a compromise anyway. Overall, I think this may be the "sleeper" deal of the decade: compression molded chips with edge spots and inlays for only 34¢ and a fair choice of denoms too. |
Sort of surprised there werent more posts for your thread- but here's some information- I'll try and be as unbiased as I can--
The chip was originally developed with our manufacturer-- the first ones to reach the market were from us and the factory used a mold design VERY similiar to the Blue Chip Flame -- BCC wasnt happy so we advised the factory not to use this mold- and a member of CT- RolandSchoff- did a design called the Great Wall- or interlocking L mold
This is the chip we currently make--
New colors were added by us and are on their way making a total of 10 colors available.
Other importers who also use this manufacturer either copied this mold- or had their own mold made- or used another mold- but there are currently three variations of this chip now on the market.
With the exception of colors and weight- theyre made using the same process with is a modified injection mold machine running higher pressures and some changes which mimick but do not duplicate the way casino chips are made.
Its not a Paulson ASM or BCC by no means- but its a decent chip especially in its price range. We did an independent test using other chips and we received the same results you did- sound- feel- taste on par with other chips in a much higher price range.
We found some QC issues which arent apparent when a label is affixed- we had issues with the solid chips we introduced with slight cracking but this is ALMOST resolved--
Inlay size is 1.103 for our chip- and 1.110 for the Davinci series- I dont have Trademarks chips here but they will invariably be between these measure ments for inlays.
THe chip was made specifically deep enough to accomodate a vinyl AND thick polycarbonate inlay without eddecting stackability.
CHip tolerence is pretty high and spinners have not been seen for the most part- we havnt heard of any reports of spinners.
Color scheme is so-so- primarily because of raw material availability and having to order a large quantity in order to introduce a new color or colors.
Weve gotten the manufacture to loosen quantity restrictions due to a 7 year working relationship with them and also we were their host when they visited the USA- so this enabled 3 addit colors to come out soon without the need for us to order 100,000 per color.
Hope this info helps
Joe
