Question about solid Paulson chips

I'm still just looking around for what kind of chip I actually want. For financial reasons, I want to avoid the whole chip-buy-frenzy everybody here seems to suffer from.

So -at the moment- I'm thinking just to get some proper solids, no inlay, no stamp, nothing. That way there's nothing on the chip that will annoy me after a while. I can use the chips for different formats/blinds. Plus, I just like solids anyway.

Here's the thing. I love the mold on the Paulson solids in these threads:

http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/poker-...-additons.html

http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/poker-...set-yummy.html

Those chips are often used hot stamped I saw.

My question(s) is (are):

- What is the official name of those Paulson solids?
- Can you buy those not hot stamped?
- If yes, maybe anyone knows where I'll get the best deal? (in Europe)

Thanks a lot!

Re: Question about solid Paulson chips

The ONLY paulson solids you can get without a stamp or inlay are the webmolds sold here:

Paulson solid are Paulson solids - meaning not inserts or edgespots, solid color. The mold is called Top Hat & Cane (H&C). Paulson does not sell this mold to the home market anymore only to casinos.

Re: Question about solid Paulson chips

Paulson won't sell solids to anyone but casinos, and they won't sell ANY blank chips. They must have an inlay or hotstamp.

The "nothing on the chip" part "might" annoy you after awhile

Good Luck

Re: Question about solid Paulson chips

Yeah, that could be true.

So, just to make sure, the only way to get chips with that mold, is to scout ebay for old casino chips? I can't buy those in a new set, hot stamped or not?

Correct...Sometimes you can find some solid hot stamped paulsons on eBay or the classifieds here that are in really good shape. You might try searching for Paulson Fun Nite's or Grand Casino's.

Good luck!

Re: Question about solid Paulson chips

How well does the webmold hold a hot-stamp? Decent recess? Scrapping needed? Got pics?
