| |  UPDATED 3/27: Fradulent CT classified ?
All,
Please help me understand if I am reading this wrong. I am relatively new to CT, but have enjoyed several successful transactions in that timeframe. I am concerned that I have been screwed by sawmillthug AKA ____________ to the tune of $500. It seemed as though he were a CTer in good standing, as a member for over a year with a bunch of posts. Does anyone know him?
Here is a timeline of the transaction:
3/12/08: sawmillthug posts a classified ad for 680 2005 JB Paulsons and 14 plaques. I submit offer of $500 shipped.
3/13/08: sawmillthug accepts offer and PMs paypal payment information.
3/14/08: I send paypal for $500 and then PM that payment has been sent.
3/14/08-3/19/08: Complete and utter darkness. No response of payment received. No chips. No communication of any sort.
3/19/08: I PM sawmillthug inquiring on transaction status. No response.
3/21/08: I PM and email to paypal address to inquire on status. No response.
3/23/08: I PM and email. This time, paypal email address is no longer valid and bounces. I file paypal claim.
The kicker here is that sawmillthug has been online on the CT site every day since the transaction and had no reason to be ignoring my very reasonable PM/ email inquiries. He has my money. I have no chips and have not heard a word from him.
Does anyone know this guy? Am I somehow reading this wrong?

***3/24/08 update***
I received a communication from the seller, sawmillthug, via PM this morning. Apparently he has his home page set to chiptalk.com and he is automatically logged in every time anyone in his family connects to the internet. For the last week, he has been on work-related travel.
He told me that he has shipped the chips and to expect them today or tomorrow.
Thank you to the Chiptalk community (especially develvjd) with your help in addressing the issue and bringing it toward closure. I will post again upon receiving the chips.

Received chips via DHL. Thanks again to the CT community for the support and to Sawmillthug for making good on the deal.

Well, he was online at CT yesterday at 9pm. So he's certainly getting your PM's. Since you've already taken it up with paypal, aside from doing what you've done here I'm not sure what else to tell you.
Maybe, "Hey Sawmillthug! Send this man his chips!"
Hopefully it's just a misunderstanding...

I don't know Sawmillthug from a hill of beans, but I have to give him the benefit of the doubt, for now. He seems like a member in good standing and I just can't see him risking his good name over something like this. I gotta believe there's some reasonable explanation--although not answereing PMs does raise eyebrows. Before the public lynching, he should be heard. |
