Chips: 0 | | | Can You Help one more Newbie? Hi all
i am very happy that i found this forum, and after 48 hours of research i came to the sweet conclusion that this is by far the best forum on Chips and related poker accessories.
i don't know if someone can for some kind of addiction to chips in just 2 days, but that is what just happened to me.i think i am more addicted to chips now than poker
well i Live in Lebanon(Middle East) and in here there is nothing that evenly near to the quality of those ceramics or paulson chips.
i am looking to buy a 500 chips set. i fell in love with the texture of Paulson clay chips and the vibrant colors of Chipco ceramics. well thats not new i guess
but i prefer texture and durability to colors.so my question is:
1-which paulson set have the most vibrant and beautiful colors
2-the pictures in the middle are they stickers?! do they go off!?
3- is there really any better clay quality then Paulson ?
4- now this one is a bit weird i think but i know you will understand,i am developing the feeling that having 100 1$ chips of multiple designs is better then just having 100 1$ of the same set?
Thank You
i am looking forward for your answers.
oh by the way is there any easy way or cheaper way to get a set to my country?
Thank You All Again. |

Thank You All Again. | Hello, and welcome.
1) That's a matter of personal opinion, but I would say the National Series
would have the most vibrant colours
2) The inlay graphic is compression molded into the chip and has a durable. clear plastic coating. You virtually have to destroy the chip in order to remove the inlay.
3) This is another matter of personal opinion. I have yet to come across anything better than Paulson clay.. The textural feel of the chips definitely is unique among the clay chips available on the market and the closest to real casino chips. On the other hand, others will tell you that Paulson owners are just paying for the brand name and the novelty of owning Paulson chips.
4) The sky is the limit. Traditionally people have denominations of all the same design, but you can do whatever you want. What pleases you is most important.
As for the cheapest chips... Search the web and find the cheapest chips you can, while balancing the S&H costs you would have to pay when purchasing from any particular dealer.

shipping to Lebanon is $37 flat rate last time I checked.
There are a lot of chip manufactures out there and I feel that Paulson makes some of the best chips when it comes to the casino versions.
However, Blue Chip Co. and ASM both make great chips in their own regard. Poke around the classifieds and find a set you like. That way you can help out other members and get a good deal in the meantime.

Most of your answers can be found just by browsing around a little bit but I will do my best to answer your questions with my own opinions. However there are no "Right" answers, it mainly depends on what you are looking for. Quote:

Whatever you think have the best colors is what you should go with. Personally I think the Ritz Carlton Casino Paulsons have the best colors or the Olivia Casino Paulsons. Those are both VERY spendy chips though.
In the home game market I think the Private Cardroom hotstamps have some very beautiful colors as well. Quote:
Originally Posted by D.Girl Jewelry 2-the pictures in the middle are they stickers?! do they go off!? | Nope they are not stickers. They are inlays and are actually pressed into the clay composite material when the chip is pressed during the manufacturing process. This is done under high pressure to ensure the inlay does not come off. Quote:
Originally Posted by D.Girl Jewelry 3- is there really any better clay quality then Paulson ? | That is debatable. To me there is nothing better than a casino Paulson chip. However ASM makes a very good clay chip as well. The added benifit with ASM is that they are customizable. Paulson (owned by GPI) does not deal with non-casino customers. Quote:

This makes it easier to differentiate how much a bet is when it is placed.
However, I also collect individual casino chips, and a lot of people do. Check out ccgtcc.com and thechipboard.com. They are pretty hard core collectors that collect individual casino chips from all over the world. I don't play with my collectable chips though as they serve a different purpose to me. These chips I display and enjoy the artwork of the pieces.
Hope this helps if only a little bit. Welcome and I hope you enjoy the site.

Chips: 14,842 | | | Re: Can You Help one more Newbie? Welcome to Chiptalk. Al the answers/info already provided are excellent pieces of advise. The only thing I would add is that there is a documented quality difference between Casino Paulson chips and Home market Paulson chips. The consencus seems to be that casino Paulsons are the best. Out of the casino Pualson chips the President New Yorkers (PNYs) seem to have the most vibrant colors. They are for sale frequently in the classifieds on Chiptalk and on ebay.

I have little to add to the excellent responses posted above.
The general advice here is to purchase a sample set of the chips that you are thinking about purchasing. It will cost a few dollars, but in the long run it's worth the additional expense. There is no substitute for holding them in your hands and shuffling the chips to get a good sense of what it will be like to play with them.
If you only need a single denomination, such as $1 chips, it could be fun to play with a variety of chips at the same time. However, most cash games and probably all tournaments use 3-4 denominations of chips. As Couga mentioned, it's helpful to have all the chips of a single denomination be the same, or at least the same color. For example, I have a set with two different shades of pink, both of which were used as quarters in one game. It was not a problem. However, it would be very confusing if quarters were represented by pink chips, blue chips, and yellow chips, while dollars were represented by purple chips, green chips, and white chips, and five dollars were represented by chocolate chips, grey chips, and red chips. It's much better if each denomination is one distinct base color, with or without edge spots (although the designs/inlays/hot stamps could vary).
Good luck in your quest for the best chips!
