Chips: 2,924 | | | Not my auction... Not my auction... and it's already closed... but can somebody help me out?
Why didn't anyone bid on these? 377 BUD JONES Wyndham Old San Juan Poker Chips Set - eBay (item 290201407293 end time Jan-31-08 18:44:46 PST)
The breakdown's not "ideal", but it's definitely playable (can do a single-table T3000 with starting stacks of 24-9-3 or whatever), and it's a great start towards building a decent set if you wait for more $100s to come available (or try to get a group-buy going for some of the Wyndhams at HPC). I was tempted to snag these BJ's for ~ $1/chip, but really have no need for another tourney set right now. Could have tried to re-sell them at twice the price a few months (or days?) later, but I'm not into that game. |

Chips: 783 | | | Re: Not my auction... I would have bid on these babies last year when i didn't know the differences in Bud Jones chips. I was totally in love with these chips and really wanted a tourney set of them. However, after learning that these chips have the same suction problem as most Bud Jones do, i veered away from them and went to the Caesars Palace at Sea for my Bud Jones fix. It's a shame that no one else wants them at $1/apiece though. Great chips, just no longer my cup of tea. |

I thought suction was considered a good thing... aids in stacking, etc. In a casino, it keeps a stack of chips from getting toppled by flying dice, or in a home game, by bumping the table or whatever.

I've noticed that v7's haven't been getting much love on these boards, but they are FAR from crap. I don't mind the slight "magnetism", it just shows the quality build and makes for easy stacking and stability. In addition I like the edge spot and pattern options more on the v7 line. At the end of the day, the more choices we have the better, since everyone has their preferences. |

I just bought a new car, and rent was due, blah blah... I hate bills! I know I missed out on a good buy, but like you said, I really have no need for another tourney set. Oh well |

I'm a clay man, myself, but V7 Bud Jones Wyndhams for $1/chip?! I nearly min-bid it on a couple of occasions, but I'm finishing school, haven't got a job lined up yet, and got "sucked in" to working on the T-mold semi-customs. Well, that's not true. I'm having a lot of fun with that project, but when I started working on it, I honestly had no intention of getting a set for myself, but now that it's developing... I'm not sure I can resist! Which I guess means I have negative moneys for ANOTHER set on top of that one that I already don't need. |

The magnetism thing is not so bad. It's just really really different from any other chip I can think of. Overall, I think the quality of the plastic and the craftsmanship on these chips is way better than on Caesars at Sea. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
