Most internet geeks use the word "pron" instead of "porn". Tends to lead to less exposure for the porn people from search engines, etc. I guess it's sort of a joke around here, as it's all harcore chip pron!

Welcome to the boards!

Also, if you use the term p o r n, image storage sites like imageshack will not allow you to link images.

Re: New to chiptalk, have a question

I thank you both. I was under the impression that's what it stood for, but was suprised as to how many people use it. I think every poster in the gallery used it at least once....that is when I had to second guess my original thoughts.

I'm new to all of this. In fact, I almost bought a set of Paulson Tukwila recently which would be my first "real" set of chips. I understand that Paulson is Top Dog, and I love their chips. My first experience with them (that I can remember thinking "wow, great chips") was when I played poker at Mandalay Bay many years back.

I play at Borgata as well and the Borgata $1 Bud Jones have a sweet spot in my heart as well.

Now I'm torn. What should be my first set to begin construction on? Should I go Bud Jones or Paulson....and, which type of set (Niemanns, build Borgata's, Go Pharroh's, James Bond....etc, etc.).

I will likely begin the construction of this project over the weekend......

I love this site, I love poker chips (and poker), and I love my new found hobby.

Thanks all in advance.

Re: New to chiptalk, have a question

Best of luck! Bud Jones are a little rarer, but they're beautiful chips. If you're in AC, then you've got some nice ones to cull from.

Re: New to chiptalk, have a question

You can't go wrong with Bud Jones or Paulson. Period.

My only advice is to start with a casino set, Tukwila, Niemann's, Borgata, etc... whatever you want.

Your other options is to buy a set of Pharaoh's or James Bond (both fantasy sets, not from a real casino), then realize you should have bought a real casino set, sell them, and buy the casino set you should have started with...

I say clay. I also literally laughed out loud when I read your question. PrOn, it makes me smile every time I say it.

Red face Re: New to chiptalk, have a question

Welcome Wildman.
My bet would be Paulsons period. You know you already love them so stick with what you like. Only drawback I could see on Pharaoh's is that somone could buy a $25.00 chip and bring into your game. If you have a regular game and you trust the people that come into your home then by all means get the set you want.
Since joining a few months ago (I had some JB's that I bought from Paulson in Vegas in the Late ninties off Industrial BLVD for .60 a chip) my collection has grown out of control. Currently Cash set of real Casino chips over 400 mink UNC Silks, 300 .50 Tampa Grey hounds 200 .25 Marksville plus tons of loose casino chips. I also have over 700 Pharaohs and love them. I have over 800 Private Cardroom Hot stamped Paulsons and I love those too.
Go Paulson and go Big!
Thanks and welcome
Silks
