MGM Grand @ Foxwoods: New chips (maybe new rack?) in 2008.

I was just sent the following as part of an industry newsletter:

"Progressive Gaming and Gaming Partners International announced Foxwoods Resort Casino is going RFID, selecting GPIC’s Paulson high frequency RFID chip along with PGIC’s Chip Inventory System table management system for the majority of their table gaming operations. Foxwoods also plans to incorporate the Table iD table management system with full RFID functionality on approximately 250 of its table games over the next two years and fully implement CIS throughout all its cage operations by May 2008. GPIC will supply approximately 1 million 13.56 MHz High Frequency RFID gaming chips to Foxwoods. The property is planning to go live with the RFID chips implemented with Table iD and CIS at the anticipated May 2008 opening of MGM Grand at Foxwoods."

1,000, 000 new chips!!!!!!!

The cool thing is that technology-wise it would be possible as they could just blacklist your RFIDs.

I wonder how much more this adds to the cost of making the chips? And whether it will make them HARDER to buy at the Cage in Quanity?

I'm wondering if the chips at MGM-Foxwoods will be transferable to the regular foxwoods. They are next to each other and if that is the case then I can justify bringing racks over to "another game". Can't wait for the opening to grab a coupla' racks of $1's.

Not harder to get at the cage at all. But harder to get out the door. Imagine being stopped at the door, "Excuse me sir, our scanners indicate that you have 600 $1 chips in your bag...and this is in addition to the 500 chips your girlfriend has up in your room....not to mention the 1200 chips that you have removed from our casino on 3 separate occasions in the last 90 days."

Actually that's not what the scan is for. Casino have to take in effect that people will be taking their chips away. That is part of casino's business. That is why some casinos don't even have 1$ chips. That being said I think some main reason is security reason, who's cheating, who's stealing, who's winning, and who's the fish. I can't wait for the casino to open and take a few racks out.

I don't believe the $1 chips will be tracked only at the tables but not at the exits. The $500+ chips will have Lo/Jack on them.

You can't really buy chips at any cage now other than in the poker room. And they'll sell you whatever you ask for from what I've seen there.

Re: MGM Grand @ Foxwoods: New chips (maybe new rack?) in 2008.

They might only put the RF chip in the higher denom chips, like $100 and above. I'm pretty sure that's what the Wynn does.

Who cares about the low rollers!
