please tell me there's a better way...? | Sounds pretty accurate. That's why chips are that much more expensive over there. I'm not sure if you have the option, but you might want to consider shipping them by sea. |

Chips: 121 | | | Re: have you ever shipped chips overseas? It seems shipping to France is SUPER high. The best and cheapest is to ship using the USPS Flate Rate box. This is what I used to ship all the international orders for the ASM Black Sands GB and it worked great. There is a 20 lb weight limit but other than that its simple as could be...
Hope that help ya! |

Chips: 37,262 | | | Re: have you ever shipped chips overseas? I hate shipping overseas. More than the cost (usually paid by the recipient), it's the hassle of forms, the fact that I have to drive it in, and MOSTLY that I have to worry about it getting there.
I have a shipment to someone here right now that the tracking number isn't tracking, and it's driving us both nuts.
BTW I paid about $43 total for Global Prio flat rate, with $399 insured for 400 Paulsons. |

please tell me there's a better way...? | In the past two months, I've sent chips to the UK, France (X2), and Australia (from Canada). For some reason, it's cheaper for me to ship to the UK than domestic (within Ontario), but to France is ridiculously expensive, and the cheapest option (surface) takes FOREVER and has really bad tracking info once it leaves Canada (i.e. I can't find anything on laposte.fr). |

Chips: 626 | | | Re: have you ever shipped chips overseas? JOJO Use a USPS flat rate box.. well you will have to use two as if I remember right they have a limit of 20 lbs per box now! But I have shipped to france twice recently! If you use the flat rate box ( I have shipped as many as 800 chips in one) with insurance it should run you around $38 dollars each if I remember correctly!!! Not a huge savings but some! Just a thought! |

Chips: 14,505 | | | Re: have you ever shipped chips overseas? I just did a Flat Rate box to France - same physical box for domestic. It was $37 anywhere Internationally. The downside is no tracking ability and no delivery confirmation.
I am unsure about insurance as well. Say you've got $200 in chips and mark the customs form as a gift and the value at something nominal like $20 so the receiver doesn't get clobbered with import taxes. There may be a problem later.
Also - noelsarchs has had insurance problems shipping to the UK - apparently the USPS insurance is only for while it's still in the US - once it hits international, not their problem anymore.
Now DHL, FedEx and UPS will track internationally, but these delivery methods can easily double the cost of the item. Insurance is there as well, but then the receiver will most likely be hit with taxes and duties on their end.
It's unfortunate that international shipments are so risky - so much for a global economy.

Chips: 626 | | | Re: have you ever shipped chips overseas? Not that I would advocate this.. (nor would I do this *cough cough*) but!!!! You can insure it for the actual value and then on the customs form put down on it thats its a gift.. aka christmas gift.. birthday gift... etc.. and the other end doesnt get banged with a big charge! I hadnt ever heard that the insurance runs only in US.. huh you learn something new everyday! | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
