Chips: 15 | | | I Need Help Figuring Something Out. ok, i have a president new yorker 2.50 chip and a $1 great blue heron chip from a casino near my house that is still used in play(how long the kind of chip has been used? i dont know) but ive noticed that the top hat and cane are the same, same size the print, but the GBH chips seems to be more a tough material, the egde spot colors are more bolder and solid like they are painted on the outside of the chip and the pny's egde colors look like they are apart of the chip, second, i looked at both the inlays in the light and the GBH chip is more glossy than the pny, and the pny has a dip in the middle and the GBH does not, third, the GBH has rings on the inlay, kinda like on some of the blue chip vineyard comm and the pny doesnt have rings. so i got more and its still the same. is this because of the move to GPI gaming?
any thoughts and experience will be appreciate.
ps: the GBH chip is 39mm grand inlay and is in casino used condition, so is the pny 2.50(from me wearing it down) |

Chips: 26,840 | | | Re: I Need Help Figuring Something Out. I'm not sure why you're noticing so many differences, but both the PNY & GBH are the same type of chip, with different inlay sizes, colors & spots.
The GBH chips are standard Paulson Grand inlay (1 1/16"). The PNY has a Giant inlay (1 3/8"), and the inlay overlaps the center recess & part of the THC mold. I don't know if you have any other local casino chips to compare, but the GBH are the same as the Niagara chips & the PNY like the Brantford chips.
The $1 GBH uses arc yellow (or some other day glow color) on two of the spots, which is probably why they look brighter than the PNY. There is a center recess on both chips, but the recess on the GBH is just outside of the actual inlay.
I'm guessing that most of the differences you're seeing are probably due to wear etc... Quote:

ya the casino niagra $1's have the same rings on the inlay. i was just wondering why that is?, i havent seen the brantford, but my brother inlaw has one so ill go look at those. ya the niagra and GBH are glossy inlays, and the pny's are slightly foggish. |

Chips: 14,006 | | | Re: I Need Help Figuring Something Out. Maybe this chart will help, just ignore the 43mm & 48mm chips. So compare this with the 2 chips you're looking at, we know the PNY is giant, is the other one grand or standard?

Chips: 14,006 | | | Re: I Need Help Figuring Something Out. I'm pretty sure you can request either glossy or 'linen' finished inlays from Paulson (if you're a casino customer)

There is the recessed area in the center (1 1/8"), then the inlay itself - slightly smaller in this case (1 1/16"). |

but i noticed the pny 2.50 is less glossy and has a dip in the middle of the chip in the light, maybe its just this chip, or maybe its just the 2.50's , its not a big deal, im just wondering because the casino chips have these rings and the pny i have doesnt.
i wish i could show you guys but a pciture wont get the thing i want to show. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
