Advice Pleaseeee

okay.... im looking for a tourney set with denoms up to at least $5000 .. CLAY only, and would spend up to $1per, or even a bit more..
i currently have pharaohs which i <3 ... but the max denom of $1000 just isnt cutting it ...... ive spent all nite reading a ton or reviews .... and i have samples coming in the mail ..... but in the meantime i just wanted some opions ...

The sets ive sorta narrowed it down to (base don reviews only)
is DESERT PALM CASINO
MARDi GRAS CLAY
NEVADA JACKS CLAY

i also havent read reviews yet for the sidepot chip lines ... inPlay, protege, and le paulson noir ...... suggestions??? advice? input? thanks!!!

Re: Advice Pleaseeee

I have a set of the Samurai Palace clay chips, available from Holdempokerchips.com, (http://www.holdempokerchips.com/products.asp?cat=45) and I really like them. I have also received nothing but rave reviews from the players who play in my home game. They cost more than $1/chip though but I think they're worth it if you can afford them.

Here's a link to a review of the chips by Wylecoyo: http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/poker-...ker-chips.html

Re: Advice Pleaseeee

You can do custom blue chips for around that price. I believe the artwork fee is $300 for 5 denoms. The denoms can change but the rest of the inlay can't. They have some great edge spots to choose from too. They do take some time, but the wait is worth it in my opinion.

Re: Advice Pleaseeee

samurai chips looks nice... im just not particularly fond of the artwork .. shrug

the blu chips seems to be $150 per artwork design (denom) .. so it would be $600 for the artwork alone? without the chips? very confused hehe

Re: Advice Pleaseeee

Personally, I think you couldn't go wrong with the Desert Palms. They ARE BCC chips, the edge spots are really nice, and the inlays are great IMO. You get all of that without the multiple costs of artwork (per denom).

The price is pretty good, and Jim/The Chip Room are awesome to work with. No, I don't work for Jim, but I am a big fan if his chips.

...just my $0.02 worth.

I agree. You can buy just the $5,000 chip to use with your Pharaoh's for a killer set. Or go all the way with a new set. I bought a complete tourney set of Tophats (Shaped Inlays) but still mix in my Pharaoh's just 'cause I like them so much.

I would not buy NJ Clays, I've had problem with spinners and some of them don't fit in racks very well.

The Mardi Gras clays are great chips, but I think they're being discontinued and may be in limited supply. If you don't mind the bold colors these could be good.

Desert Palms? Eh, they just don't do it for me.

I saw some Protege chips last weekend and I was really impressed. Beautiful to look at, really classy. Much better than I expected once I finally got to handle them. Probably my favorite non-Paulson chip.

Paulson Noir? Gonna be the about the same chips as the Tophats, so it all depends on how much you like the inlays. Very nice looking to me.

Just my 2½¢ worth....

Re: Advice Pleaseeee

I believe they're still running their special of 5 denoms for $300. Like I said though, only the denom can change from chip to chip. If you want totally different inlays on each chip, the $150/ is correct. So, with the fixed artwork fee, the more chips you order, the lower the cost per chip is. (I am not a blue chip salesman, but I love their product)

BTW, I haven't owned any of the other chips you're considering, so I can't comment on those.
