Chips: 41 | | | What's the Big Deal with Faux Clays? I'm new to this site and by browsing the forum I've noticed that there seems to be alot of die hard faux clay fans. Could anyone let me know why they are so popular and what exactly they are made of. |

Chips: 507 | | | Re: What's the Big Deal with Faux Clays? To sum up the 1000+ posts in the Official Faux Clay thread,
- they handle quite similar to compression clay chips (which cost over 20 times more).
- they have six really cool dice around the edges
- solids RAWK!!!!111
- they stack like no other chip (no more spinners)
- they are dirt cheap (at 5¢ per chip they are even cheaper than those crappy 11.5g slugged dice chips)
- no metal slug makes them sound like real casino chips
- you can personalize them with labels, cold stamps (rubber stamp), and fabric dye
- over 100 crazy Chiptalkers can't possibly be wrong
- did I mention they are cheap
If you need any more reasons to splurge on a set, you can read through the thousands of replies in the official thread.

Mostly, they play well for cheap!! |

Chips: 41 | | | Re: What's the Big Deal with Faux Clays? LOL, I didn't mean to start a riot. I just had never heard of them before. I didn't realize there was a cost effective way to get chips that are (loosley) comparable to clays. Wish I would of know that before I dropped $1000 on my new Paulson set. I have no regrets though. Still woulda done it. Thanks for the info. |

Chips: 5 | | | Re: What's the Big Deal with Faux Clays? Well I first heard of Faux Clays about two years ago (when all the colors were still available)...but never bought any because they were so plain looking.
Many chip sets later, I am now the proud owner of 1200 Faux Clays in original colors, white, red, green, black and purple.
The magic with these chips is first and foremost that are a what I would call a poor mans PAULSON. They Stack better than any chip I own except perhaps my Paulson samples. They sound like real clay chips.....and I have grown to appreciate the simplicity of solid colors. For under 5 cents a piece you get an amazing chip. Buy a bunch of them and start dying would be my advice.

Even at $0.20+ per chip for extinct colors, there isn't a better chip out there for the price IMHO. Stacking isn't an issue for me, as I rarely need to stack any chip in a lone stack of more than 20. Almost all cheap chips (with the exception of the super diamonds and dice chips I used to own) can do this just fine.
After getting broken in (which doesn't take too long) they feel and sound incredible. True, it's not like splashing Paulsons or ASMs into the pot, but it's dang close. Plus, they're not slugged.
