I have been a long time lurker, but this is one of my first posts (my other posts were generally an accumilation for this one). I have two big problems, which I need advise on.

Firstly, I live in the UK and decent chips seem to be in very short supply.
Secondly, I need a £0.05 and a £0.10 denomination chip if possible (or $ of course)

I have been looking at the '4 aces' poker chip which has 13 different denoms I believe, and looks almost ideal for our cash game. However, there is no obvious UK supplier and there is no review on here, which leaves me questioning the quality.

While searching for 1,000 cash game chips. I also need 2,000 tournament chips. I was going to buy some nexgens, but the price over here is approx £4 per stack of 25. Which compared to American prices is extortionate.

I was wondering if anybody knew of reliable UK suppliers, or failing that US sites that are willing to ship. And any recommendations for 2,000 Tournament Chips, and 1,000 cash game chips will go down very nicely. I think we're looking to spend about £500/£600 in total, so $1100ish?

we can certainly ship to the UK- and do so regurarly- the problem is quantity--
too small and the ship costs become outrageous- and large orders to be cheap in shipping have to go by sea--min costs are involved and the time is slow-- its been a dilemma for years

The USPS now has a flat rate box for approx 45 USD which can weigh up to 20 pounds and hold approx 800-900 chips- so for three thousand chips you would have to spend about 180.00 USD in shipping plus the cost of the chip.

No easy answer for you-

A flat rate box shipped internationally (everywhere else but Canada) is $37. Not that it's a huge deal, but worth mentioning.

man you missed my M2M! 1,000+ nexgens went for a fraction of that! And others... mainly the Dunes group buy, you could have had 3000 excellent chips for within your budget. Check and see what the post group buy prices are, they're probably still within your budget.

Most US suppliers ship to UK. Cost wise, ask them to ship USPS, it's really not very expensive at all, compared to postage here.

With the current exchange rate, I'd say it would pay to hunt down some cheap chips in the US and get them shipped over.

Denoms wise, do you have to have them? It's obviously up to you, but I would guess that 5c and 10c denominations aren't going to cover all your cash games for the next few years of your life.

I run a university poker society. So although my games will definately change - i doubt the games of the students will change too much.

There is always a table wanting to play 10 NL and then we can hold a 25NL too. I don't think denoms are essential for our 2,000 chips for tournaments. That will be fairly straightforward I'm hoping.

The chips for the tournament are between nexgen and tri-gens (non denom) atm, although i think that could just be down to inexperience.

Cash games chips are giving me a bit of a headache, I am considering using denoms, but refering to it as pence: e.g the 100 denom chip will be £1.00, the 5000 denom chip will be £50.00 etc

Surely some people must run a 10 nl game w/ denoms?!

Reputation, the short answer is no, not any more. There are several threads about it...

If you are going to make a purchase from another member though, there is a good, the bad and the ugly thread that people can update with their experience in trading with others, lets you know their previous record if you like.
