warped Casino Paulsons

I have hotstamped solid casino TH&C Paulsons that wobble in twenty chip tall stacks.
Tapping them on the side about 3/4 up the height of the stack makes them wiggle like jello.

I am not talking about home Paulsons on the suits mold. (TH&C mold)

They are not inlay Paulsons, so it's not a 'spinner' issue.

They seem to have been barely used, if at all.

So, is it the hotstamping?

Re: warped Casino Paulsons

How old are the chips? If they were left out in the sun or in a hot garage for long periods of time, chips can warp.

You can check to see if a chip is warped by laying one flat on a glass or mirror and tap around the rim. If you here a small clink sound, the chip is warped. Check both sides. Compare the sound to another pic. You will know if its warped. Also, if the warp is bad, you can tell by looking at it. How about a pic?

Re: warped Casino Paulsons

I've had a BUNCH of starbursts that were like this. My guess is that they sat in a hot warehouse for years, and eventually started to warp. Probably in Vegas.

Re: warped Casino Paulsons

I think it has totally to do with how they are stored. I just picked up 200 hotstamped St. Jo $.50 chips that lay perfectly flat. I was also fortunate to get some of the home Private Cardroom paulsons that also show no signs of warping. I was told they warp because of the hotstamp process and others have made this claim, however I am not a believer in this. I think more than anything it has to do with heat. I do have some paulson casino chips with inlays that have warped. I think it happens more with the giant inlay than the smaller inlays. I had about 4 of them warp because I had them on a table near the heater vent and my "so called" lucky casino paulson warped sitting in my car. I also had some come to me warped when shipped in the middle of summer. The common factor seems to be the heat. So to sum it up: Heat + Paulsons = bad news.

Re: warped Casino Paulsons

I don't think it was due to heat during shipping, or else all the other chips in the shipment would have been affected as well.
storage, maybe as I do not know how they were stored.
It is only in one color. The other colors do not have this issue.

And I have two different sets of colors that are affected by this from two different casinos.

One of the sets is the bunch of white chips from Caesars Tahoe.
The other set is the big bunch of salmon pink chips from Grand Casino Biloxi. Out of 600, half are a bit wobbly in stacks. (not as much as the white Caesars)

Note: I did not notice this about the Biloxis while I played with them at my desk. I only noticed when a buyer asked about the issue SPECIFIC to the color.

If I were keeping them, I don't think I would care. But since I am selling them, I wanted to understand how this may happen.

EDIT: I CANNOT see the warp in any of the chips. I can only see the effect of the warp during the side tapping stack test.
