good place to buy Acrylic Chip Trays?

not sure if this should be in the "Wanted to Buy" forum, but move if it should be.

I need 15-20 acrylic trays. I am seeing 20 on eBay for $25-$28 shipped here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=230137676548

I just don't want junk, are these decent? Any other reliable sources at this price?

Re: good place to buy Acrylic Chip Trays?

Well, first it depends on what kind of chips you have.

If you have casino-type chips (Paulson, Blue Chip, Chipco) you probably want the trays with 66.7mm width of each row. Then 20 chips will fit perfectly (faux clays, too). Holdempokerchips.com sells good Chipco-brands racks here, for example:
http://holdempokerchips.com/proddetail.asp?prod=Tray10
You can probably find other Paulson or Chipco racks around here. Or at the better retail poker sites, they'll often give the width measurement.

For some other chips (ASMs, Nexgens, some other ceramics?), you may need a wider tray. Often you see trays in 67.7mm or 68mm widths. For these bigger chips, you need a wider tray to hold 20 in a row. BUT, the problem is if you get these wider trays for regular chips, the chips are either very loose in rows of 20 or you might actually fit 21 in a row.

The eBay trays are typically slighty wider, though you can't tell for sure.

Re: good place to buy Acrylic Chip Trays?

Slayer suggested DCG but they are $2 each after shipping. I am putting just some slugged chips in them. Not sure how wide they are. I will just get the eBay ones, I am sure they will be fine.

Thanks for the input.

Re: good place to buy Acrylic Chip Trays?

IMO the best racks are Chipco brand racks. The plastic has a very slightly rubbery feel to it and isn't nearly as brittle as others. Holdempokerchips carries them and you can order from Chipco directly - similar prices as I recall.

But listen to Tom. ASM chips will not fit these racks. For them you need kardwell racks or something similar. I bought mine from pokerchips.com. These work fine, but I don't like them as well as the Chipco brand racks.

Post Re: good place to buy Acrylic Chip Trays?

This seemed like an appropriate thread to piggyback my question ...
I'm just a little confused about something/weary about buying more chip racks ...

I bought 10 chip racks over a year ago. A couple of months ago I bought a 1000 acryilic chip carrier with 20 racks from the same place; these racks were different from the ones I got the 1st time; they held 20 chips very loosely (could fit 21 per row of any chip : TR King, Paulson, Chipco, etc.), and I didn't like that.

Last week, I bought another 20 from Discount Casino Gear in hope that they'd be like the first racks I bought, but they were the same as the ones I didn't like (they held 20 chips very loosely) ... I'm assuming these are the "standard" 67.7 mm racks? ... Yes? They couldn't be 68.7 mm could they?

The first time I bought racks I wasn't specifically looking for 66.7 mm nor do I remember them listed as such ... so as far as I know, the 1st ones I bought were the standard 67.7 mm racks ... but after my last 2 rack purchases I'm not sure what is what ... Do all 67.7 racks hold 21 chips per row?

My point is : I want more racks like the 1st ones I bought that fit 20 chips per row very snuggly ... Am I to assume those are 66.7 mm racks? Right now, 66.7 sized racks seem to cost comparatively more than regular racks; has that always been? ... because I didn't pay that much for the racks I liked.
