Chips: 215 | | | Edge Spot Progression Question Is there a rule or set of rules for how edge spots should progress on a set of chips? People often talk about that, but I never really know what they are talking about. |

What it mainly addressed was starting with simple edge spots on the lower denom chips and nprogressing to the more 'evolved' spots on the higher denom chips.

Chips: 275 | | | Re: Edge Spot Progression Question I don't think there is any official rule to this... just that some folks like to have the edgspots become more complex or more numerous as the value of the chips increase.
This probably stems from the casinos who would have more complex spots on their higher value chips to make it harder to forge.
A simple progression would be to have say two spot on the lowest value then four spots on the next... six on the next.. etc.
The only downside to this is that after you have paid out lots of money for custom chips you find that the nicest chips only hit the table late in the game and in fewer numbers |

Basically, folks seem to split into 3 camps:
1. More complex spots/colors as denoms go up.
2. Keeping the spots on the more commonly used chips more complex and the lesser used chips simpler. For example in a 1/2 limit game, you might have your $1 chip (used a lot) looking fancier than your $25 chip (not used much).
4. Whatever you like. |

| An extension of that idea is to just use your favorite insert patterns on the chips you will use most, regardless of how fancy they are and work around that. 4A12 and 1/4 pie are not that fancy, but I like them a lot. Like others have said, only you have to be happy with them. |
