Chips: 91 | | | How do you know if a chip was made by Chipco I have recently sold some Chipco chips for a friend on ebay. http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/auctio...ided-club.html
The high bidder just emailed me with this to say: Hi Rich, received first box of chips yesterday, to my surprise is a question to you and your friend who owns these chips are the chips genuine chipco chips ? The appearence and the feel of the chip is different than the chipcos that I have, I have bought alot of chipco chips, also there is no CI (chipco international) on both sides of the chip. do you have a return policy, money back returned if i don't want them ? Thank You, Does Chipco put CI on both sides of all thier chips? I thought they looked and felt like any Chipco chip I have ever seen. I know someone asked Nexttime to remove his ebay auction for these same chips because he did not feel they were Chipco also but after looking into he was told by someone within Chipco that they were indeed made by them but were unaware that the chips were being used in a card room. Any advise on this would be very appreciated. Thanks, Rich |

Chips: 2,140 | | | Re: Ho wdo you know if a chip was made by Chipco I have to say that the sure look like Chipcos to me. The rounded rolling edges, the white ring, the slightly blurred edge markings.....They look like Chipcos.
Without having one in hand though, it's impossible to be sure.

Chips: 13,228 | | | Re: Ho wdo you know if a chip was made by Chipco Look in the auction links forum, there was a thread on these chips and chipco confirmed they made them. There was controversy over whether they were made for a casino/card room or not, chipco apparently thought they were for a home user.
edit: here's the link http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/auctio...ipco+rochester

Chips: 18,645 | | | Re: How do you know if a chip was made by Chipco Those certainly look like Chipcos, and according to JM/Jimshaf's research they really are. Not unusual to not have CI on home chips if the buyer requested them as such.
You'd have to feel them to be sure, as Strange said. Wonder why the new buyer thinks they are not Chipcos??
I saw this auction and thought there might be something fishy going on, though. (Besides the "selling these for a friend" that looks funny.) In the main part of your listing, you show something that looks like a "proof sheet" showing the front art and the rolling edges. This is quite unusual for anyone to have unless he was the original purchaser. And why wouldn't this proof sheet say Chipco? No offense intended, but those were my thoughts.... |

Chips: 1,051 | | | Re: How do you know if a chip was made by Chipco Seems like it's solely because 'CI' isn't on them. For the record, I never requested that 'CI' not be on my custom Chipcos. It was not offered as an option. I'm not so sure it's 'standard' on custom home Chipcos. I don't notice it on any on the Deb Meister page that I referenced below and I'm pretty sure Deb does most of her designs for Chipco from David Spragg. Quote:

Chips: 1,714 | | | Re: How do you know if a chip was made by Chipco Sounds like BS to me. CI is usually, but not always somewhere on the chip. Plus the feel of Chipcos change over time due to wear. The pics in your auction are pretty clear. If he had any reservations about them not being genuine, he should have asked before buying.
Nice to see you back, Andi. |

Chips: 92 | | | Re: How do you know if a chip was made by Chipco From the FAQ page on the homepokerchips site
15. “What is the "CI" I see on some but not all of your chips?"
Answer: This is the mint mark for the manufacturer that we represent. This is a fairly new requirement just going into effect on June 15th '04. From that point forward every chip that this manufacturer makes will be required to have this mint mark. Chips made prior to June 15th do not contain the mint mark. Click Here to see a sample of what the mint mark looks like. http://www.homepokerchips.com/mintmark.htm |

The eBay auction does not mention that I am selling these for a friend, you must have got that from a thread on here. The proof sheet and pics were supplied by the owner of the chips so I used them. I had help with some artwork and had chips made at both ABC and BRPro and that AI file does not have the name of the manufacturer on it. My friend has no transactions on ebay so I offered to list them as I have over 300 transactions with zero negative feedback and thought a buyer would feel more comfortable buying from me. Do you think I should take the proof sheet off on future listings? What do you think I should add or take away from the auction so it doesn't come off as "fishy"?
Thanks to everyone for your responces,
