Holy Smoke! The new wave of poker chips!

There seems to be multiples of monster chips beeing created and made right now. There is the BCC Dunes chip with the original mold from the Chiproom, the Avalons from ASM with about impossible spots thanks to Imthatguy and a numerous Matsui sets through Joshuadalton.
Besides this there is loads of originall Casino chips, Zillions of new ceramics, plaques and lots of other great stuff.

The big vendors almost have new set by the month and it seems like a never ending story.

It is like 24/7 Christmas for us chip lovers

But.........

Will the market take more?
Are we about to see a price drop on E-bay due to all of us who are about to sell off some of our old sets to make room for new ones?
Will some manufactures and vendors be forced to quit due to the massive competition?

And..............

How will the China clays and ceramics effect the marker the next years?

Or............

Will GPI start to sell custom sets from the Paulson, B&G and Bud Jones lines???

I hope:

Yes, No, No, Not in a bad way and YES!!!!

Re: Holy Smoke! The new wave of poker chips!

lets face reality, the true Top Hat & Cane will never be available to the custom home game.

Right now, there seems to be a really heavy interest in chips but I suspect, there will be a breaking point. You technically have (3) types of chips on the move right now.... The casino collectibles which prices will remain somewhat neutral.... The custom homegame sets.... and lastly the custom fantasy sets designed by vendors or a fellow chipians.

For me, i do not understand the demand for the 3rd option (no offense to any GB organisers). A year ago, it made alot of sense because the options were limited, but now there is just way too many options around. If I were to go with a fantasy casino chip, why not just buy real casino chips. The prices are somewhat on the same range. I guess if quantity and price break is what drives people towards this option (like the matsui GB) then its understandable.

Unfortunately I think you are right.

Lets hope we are wrong.

There are other good reasons for Group Buys....

-Matsui requires a 10,000 chip minimum order and 1000/denom.

-ASM is allowing some previously unavailable edgespot patterns (imthatguy AVALON Group Buy)

Those are just two off the top of my head.

The market did drop significantly already. I bought 95% of my chips in bulk two years ago thinking I could sell in smaller sets, bought all the remaining chips I didn't have to make up those playable sets, then BOOM!!!!

Within months after I finished buying 30,000 chips, ASM started their offers with custom edge spots, Paulson rolled out a few more home use, and many more.

The market died over night. Chips that were being sold on ebay for upwards of $6-15 each for just the basic denominations now sell for a fraction of that amount.
