Chips: 71 | | | Mardi Gras Clay I was wondering if there was anyone who had these who could let me know what you think about them. I am debating between these and the Chipco Vineyards and am looking for opinions....... |

Chips: 329 | | | Re: Mardi Gras Clay I only have a sample set of the denom chips but here is my opinion: Soundwise, they have the higher pitched sound typical of other BB chips. Personally I like the higher pitched sound, so that is a plus. I don't have a scale but these feel like they are the ligther weight 8.5 - 9 gram version. The mold is very nice and a welcome difference from the regular bc shell mold. They also have a nice linen finish that makes them softer to the touch than the shell mold bc chips. If you are buying the non-denom chips you don't get the gray $1000 chips, which I think is one of the nices gray chips I have seen. The edgespot progression is also very nice, my favorite is the black and gree with dayglo colors. Unlike other bc chips, the Madri Gras have very well rounded inlays and they also have the same linen finish of the chip. The madri gras theme, however, is a bit less interesting imo but very nice still. Overall, I think they are a very nice clay chip and if I could get them for .75 - .80 I would buy a 500+set of them.
I also had, until a couple of weeks ago, a large set of NCV Chipco Vineyards. Those are also very nice but hard to make a comparison with a clay chip. Just two very different chips. My only complaint with the Vineyards was that the colors bled a little after some use and kind of darken the orange/yellow color that is very bright at first.
I love chipcos and I love bc clays so it is hard to make a definitive decision, but if you even like clays a little bit better, I would go for the Madri Gras.

Nothing against ceramics. Just my personal preference. You hardly notice the weight after about 5 minutes of playing, so to me weight really isn't that
big of a factor on these. By all means though you should definitely get sample sets of both so you can make a more educated decision.
Here's some more pics of denominated ones. http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/479323-post1.html |

My first set of chips was a set of Mardi Gras clays. They are, in my opinion, one of the nicest of the more affordable clay chips for the home market. I love everything about them: the mold, the inlay, the chip and edge colors. Many others here have said it before me, but it's worth repeating, "You can't go wrong with a set of Mardi Gras clays." |

The only knock I hear on these chips is the color scheme -- they were deliberately designed with wild New Orleans-type colors, and some people are turned off by that. So this is a personal taste thing. But if the colors are OK with you, they are very nice clay chips.
Now, deciding between these and Chipco ceramics is an apples-to-oranges comparison to me. But whatever. |

Chips: 43 | | | Re: Mardi Gras Clay I got my Mardi Gras Clays on Wednesday, and I have spent about 20 hours with them already! I oiled them Thursday and Friday, and played with them Friday night. Everyone loved them, especially the Black, with the white a close second. I got short-stacked early, so most of my chips spent time in front of others, but they went home with me! I will be perfectly happy keeping these chips forever, and I will probably be ordering about 50 more blacks.
I am going to post some pics and a review in the Poker Chip Gallery later. |

I sold my set to help make a couple of other purchases (Proteges and TRKs), but I do miss them a lot. And my players loved and miss them too. Who knows? I may end up buying a set again some day; that's how nice they are!!! |
