Chips: 193 | | | Reselling chips, is it profitable? Some CTers buy and sell chips all the time. Is it that lucrative? |

I look at it as I do B-Ball cards. Today, they are worth nothing. When i give them to my Son (to be born on day) and he turns around to sell them in the middle of his life, yes, they are valuable.
Generally speaking, if I buy a chip today, it has the exact same value tomorrow.
Case in point:
Some guy bought this chip once upon a time for $5.
It's now on the market (50 years later) for $250.
Not a bad profit margin. |

Quads, for the most part some things (selected antiques) tend to worth more in the future. However, it really depends on what you collect. Talk to the guy who paid $$$ for Mark McGwire's 70th home run ball if you don't believe me. There are also crazes throughout world history (tulip bulbs in Holland in 1630's, and more recently, beanie babies.)
From the looks of things the market for chips might have hit a peak or is in a plateau. Same could be said for poker in general. |

However, just try getting anybody to give you monthly compounding on a mere $5 investment. Quote:

Chips: 153 | | | Re: Reselling chips, is it profitable? I may buy a 500 chip set just for a portion of that set, then sell what I dont need. When all is said an done including the transaction costs, it usually makes the price per chip a little less than if you were to just buy the chips you want separately. of course, this does not take into account the time and energy searching for a bargain and then selling off the chips you don't want. but sometimes that's half the fun. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
