While I have often considered getting samples as not needed for a chip purchase, I was wildly incorrect.
I have been considering set of new chips and have been a huge fan of the Chipco Crystal Oysters. I loved the colors/edgespots etc... On the other hand, I didn't care for the Paulson shaped inlays at all. In fact, I owned paulson trademarks and sold them for a set of Nevada Jacks Desert Sands.
Long story short, I got samples of the oysters and shaped inlays and my opinion was reversed. The shaped paulsons are a great chip and the oysters just didn't look right.
So, for all of you that are considering whether to get samples, it is well worth the time, money, and effort.
Nothing could be more true. You have to touch and feel them before actually dropping hard earned money. You might be surprised what you like and don't like.
I went through the same thing initially when trying to decide between Pharaohs and Grand Casino chipsets. I love the inlay, colors and variety of inserts on the GCs as well as the multitude of denominations. After getting samples of both though, the flame mold just really left me cold.
As much as folks bad mouth the 'paulson' home chip mold, I prefer it immensely over the flame. The Paulsons looked and felt better than the flame mold BCs.
