Chips: 507 | | | Re: help buying chips If you were to get some Faux Clays, you could pick up a full set for a fraction of your chip budget. While they may look a little plain, these chips are the real deal. Check out the threads on this site for more info (as well as some fanatical devotion).
If you are looking at a 300 piece chipset, I would go with a breakdown of 100, 150, 50 using three different colours. For a 500 piece chipset you could go with 150, 200, 100, 50 using four colours. It all depends on what games and stakes you play (cash vs tourney).
For some excellent breakdown advice, check out the Chip Breakdown section under Home Games.

Chips: 507 | | | Re: help buying chips If you are just looking at 200 chips I would skip the fourth denom and go with a breakdown of 80, 100, 20. How many people would be using this set?

Chips: 4,382 | | | Re: help buying chips Here's a pic of my 200 piece travel set. It works great for up to 8 players with 4 denoms. I went with the Fauxs, of course, but real clay would be ok too, i guess.
64 green T25
80 black T100
32 purple T500
24 yellow T1000
That's 200 chips exactly for a T5000 tournament up to 8 players with colour ups. If you didnt want to colour up at all then you could probably get a 10 player set in. |

Chips: 1,564 | | | Re: help buying chips Before you go any further do some more reading on starting stack sizes. I am just guessing here but from the looks of the breakdown you want, you plan to hand out the following for a starting stack:
8 x T25
8 x T100
4 x T500
2 x T1000
Total: T5000
Is that right? If that is the case then I would save up a few more bucks and add on some T1000 so you could color up the T25's. Just a suggestion.
Other than that minor suggestion, I would also suggest saving little bit more and bumping it up to 300 chips that way you could still use a similar breakdown but you would also be able to seat a few more players or even host a rebuy tourney.
just some thoughts....you see this is the problem that the addicted people have around here- there is never enough chips, and everyone is always expecting a shipment of new chips!!
You might want to get your 200 chips and then get the hell out of here. Your wallet will thank you! |

Chips: 9,135 | | | Re: help buying chips If price is the bottom line, go faux. They're not much to look at, but they handle and stack like chips that cost ten times as much. 300 faux clays are only about $18 plus shipping. If you can't afford that, then run, do not walk, away from this forum. This is a very dangerous place for you to be. Link

Chips: 102 | | | Re: help buying chips If you want clay you could make 200 work for 10 players. Here is another way to do the tournament.
100 - $100
60 - $500
40 - $1K
You could start blinds at 100/200 with T5000 as follows:
10 - $100
4 - $500
2 - $1K
You would have plenty of chips left for color-up if needed. Or you could start with 8,000 a player without color-up. |

The 25 chip is essential to me in these tourneys, or you'll need a complete other breakdown with 5's and 10's. My setup for 201 chips.
10 People:
8x25 = 200
8x100 = 800
3x500 = 1500
Plus:
10x 1000 (or 2000/5000)
1x 2000
Total: 201 chips.
Gives a T2500 tourney with starting blinds of 25/25 or 25/50, gives you options. A T2000 or T1500 is also possible with less 500's.
You can buy 10 other chips for bigger tourneys. You'll need 1 extra chip of value 2000 or more to color-up all 25's (80 of them). | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
