Chips: 6,850 | | | What (very) cheap chip?? (NOT for me...) I am posting this in "General" because it is not a question about a tournament structure or chip breakdown (I think I have that under control), but about WHICH chips to buy. If this is wrong, please move this.
As some of you may remember, I tried to help my college run a decent poker tournament after the student union spent almost $2K last year hiring some morons (who didn't even have a blind schedule) to run a tournament. (Of course, they had terrible chips.) I told them that for less than $1K, I could get them the equipment to run a tournament that the students would then OWN. I bought a bunch of the Target table tops and a case of Copags to start, but they never reimbursed me. So I never bought the chips. TODAY (over 6 months after I gave them the receipts), I get the check for the stuff I already bought.
So now that I have the money for the stuff I already bought, I am going to buy the chips. I had been planning to get the faux clays, but since there are no longer the colors I need, I can't do that.
I need about 1700 chips and want to spend about 10 cents a chip:
500 greens (25)
600 blacks (100)
300 purples (500)
300 orange (1000)
(Of course, I could get other colors for the 500/1000.)
So now what? I don't think I can wait for the new Palm faux clays because there will be a tournament in April. Obviously, dice chips are out, not just because they suck, but because I suspect that is what many of the kids play with: I don't need total security, but I do need SOMETHING they cannot buy in the local WalMart.
I hate to buy cheap chips, but since I have no idea when I will be seeing the money for these, I don't want to spend too much (in other words, no nexgens). Any suggestions? | | Sponsored Links | |

at .06c each and all the colors you need you cant go wrong.
you can even get them hotstamped at 5 star for .07c more which would give you great security on a better chip than dice chips for .13c http://www.5stardeal.com/expand.asp?...53&subcat=1413
you could also go sapranos, but wouldnt have the same color choices |

I would still go with Faux Clays, and use something like a T1000 style setup with.....
5's - RED
25's - GREEN
100's - BLACK
500's - WHITE FAUX IS THE WAY TO GEAUX!!

I would definitely say go with the FC's even if you can't get the exact colors you are looking for. They are really will give you the most bang for your $$$
The only other option I can think of that is relatively cost effective is the china clay DP's

Chips: 507 | | | Re: What (very) cheap chip?? (NOT for me...) Josh made an excellent suggestion with the Faux Clays. With the selection of chips available, you could run:
T250
1 = white
5 = red
25 = green
100 = black
T1500
5 = red
25 = green
100 = black
500 = white
T5000
25 = green
100 = black
500 = white
1000 = red
There are still options left for the Faux Clays. Don't compromise on a lesser chip when the goods are still out there.

Chips: 223 | | | Re: What (very) cheap chip?? (NOT for me...) I also say Faux Clay, other than that look at crown wheaters (lots of colors but a little more than .10 chip), or sapranos (white, red, green, blue, black left).
