Faux clay in the UK?

Hi all,

New member here. What a great site. Love the photos too!

I'm searching for websites or shops in the UK where they might sell the faux clay chips or indeed anywhere which might have a really good deal on some higher quality products (looks, sound and feel).

I'm currently in readiness to buy a 300 or 500 set of WPT for about £35 - £50 (Approx. $70-$100), so anything of greater quality for similar money would be of interest. Any advice welcome.

Thanks very much and I'll continue gawping at the retired casino sets!

Cheers,
Martin

Re: Faux clay in the UK?

Get samples.... those WPT chips are slipery as...

You can probably get samples from http://poker.marlowcasinochips.com/

They have a selection that covers the range from Dice chips to Paulson and ASM

Depending on how many players you need to accomodate you may be better off getting 300 better chips than 500 less ones.

Good luck

Re: Faux clay in the UK?

I haven't found anywhere that sells Faux Clays in the UK unfortunately. There's not much around in your budget. I have a sample WPT chip and wasn't too impressed with it, the moldling was reasonable but I found the centre inlay didn't last long before coming off. Can't see them stacking too well either.

You have to look at how often you play, I run a game each month so I bought some Bud Jones chips.

Other things to note are the breakdown of chips you get, you might find that the $1 chips are useless to you and you need higher denom chips. Example 10 player T1,000 tourney, I use 20*$5 20*$25 and 4*$100, so I would need 200 reds 200 greens and 40 blacks (actually about 100 blacks as you colour up). You can of course do less, also note a lot of people prefer a 25/100/500/1000 set up instead of ones with reds 5/25/100/500. Work it out on a spreadsheet.

If you are here you might find yourself creeping up on your spend, or just wanting a better set after not so long. Have a think - if you do decide to go more expensive then www.marlowcasinochips.co.uk stock Paulsons.

For budget chips www.drinkstuff.com offer good deals.

I do also recommend getting some plastic cards, www.marlowcasinochips.co.uk offer a fantastic deal on slightly used KEMS - 2 decks for £6 and well, well worth it.

Hi Martin,

No Faux in the UK. Well, I have a lot

It's difficult to get anything particularly special here, other than through Marlow, who is great, but pricey.

I think that you'll need to up your budget significantly to improve much on quality.

Dave

Oh and don't forget the PSO promotion pokersourceonline.com/freepoker/nevada-jacks.asp" target="_blank">http://www. pokersourceonline.com/fre...vada-jacks.asp if you are handy at online poker (not micro stakes) then this wouldn't be a bad option.

I was pretty sure that was only available to USA postal addresses?

And I agree with all the foregoing about chips... It's gonna cost you this side of the water...

Smile Re: Faux clay in the UK?

I agree with everyone else, you pay more for good chips here in the UK.
Just brought a 500 set of desert palm pure clay chips from thechiproom.com.
The postage is very reasonable so to avoid import costs I ordered them in batches of 100 at a time. VAT is payable if the value of the goods is £18 or above.
They are not pure clay as the name might suggest but they feel and sound great (no metal insert) with a look i realy realy like (see other posts).
They were perfect for my budget, about £13 for 100 chips + £4.50 shipping!!!!.
I didn't fancy spending loads of cash on chips as my mates would drop them in their beer and on the floor and I would spend the evening being on edge an generaly pissed off with everyone.
I'm not a fan of the WPT chips and they seem very over priced.

Or you can just sod the expense and buy some paulsons from marlowcasinochips.com

Good luck anyway, it's an addiction buying chips that eats away at me all the time!
