Chips: 611 | | | Is a Sopranos chip the same as a Neophyte chip? Is a Sopranos chip the same as a Neophyte chip (sold by www.sidepot.com aka BuyPokerChips.com)?
I have some chips samples of the Neophyte chip, but not the Sopranos.
So I wanted to know if they are basically the same chip, but with a different label. |

Neophytes do have an inlay, however. |

Chips: 129 | | | Re: Is a Sopranos chip the same as a Neophyte chip? Sopranos and Neophytes are definitely two different chips. The Sopranos have 6 edge spots, rather than 8, and the Sopranos have no labels. They are also much cheaper. On ApachePokerChips, 1000 Sopranos with an aluminum case is around $110. I've never felt a Soprano or a Neophyte, so I can't attest to the difference in the materials. If I were you, I would get some sample Sopranos before you buy the Neophytes. Faux clays are amazing too, and even cheaper, although they're on their way to extinction... |

Was that what you were really asking about? I ask because you mentioned..."without a label"
Just curious. |

Just curious. | Don't sopranos, kingpins, and neophytes all have the same feel? |

I was asking with regard to the feel, sound, weight, and basic material of each of them.
Disregard the visual differences of edge spots and inlays.
I was wondering if a Soprano was basically a generic brand of Neophyte, i.e. a Neophyte in cheap disguise.
But if there is a difference in feel, sound, weight, stackability, material composition, then I would consider them different enough.
Metalslug3 answered it for me by saying the Neophytes are heavier. Thanks. |

Chips: 5,846 | | | Re: Is a Sopranos chip the same as a Neophyte chip? Neophytes are heavier (11.5g-12g) than sopranos because the Neophyte is a slugged chip while the soprano isn't. Visually they do look similar and from what I've heard they feel similar but not the same and they sound different.
I think the neophyte/kingpin is a great chip as I've owned over 1000 neophytes (sold for asms purchase) and currently own about 1700 kingpins. I don't actually own any sopranos but I've heard good things about the heavier ones as they can be found in 2 different weights. |

Chips: 1,565 | | | Re: Is a Sopranos chip the same as a Neophyte chip? Well the Kingpins and the Sopranos do not feel alike. The closest in feel would be the grey Soprano, the rest are much harder. The whites are the hardest of all and as a result are pretty slippery. The blacks are pretty slippery as well, but the look so sharp its easy to ignore. The lighter version of the Sopranos are extremely hard and slippery.
The Kingpins are much heavier, and have a softer almost chalky feel to them...I am sure this chalkiness will pass after they see more time on the table. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
