Would you ever pocket some WSOP Main Event Chips?

Ok, I don't know why I thought of this but the question came up and I was wondering if you guys would ever be tempted to do this. If you were playing in the Main Event (or some other WSOP tourney, ME would be easiest because the total volume of chips in play) would you ever be tempted to pocket some of the chips and keep them permanently if you could get away with it? I suppose the situation I'm speaking of would be if you were doing very well in the tournament, and you had enough chips that at each level, taking a few of the ante level chips off wouldn't negatively effect your stack size to amount to any significance. i.e. you have 50k in chips and you take off 8 25 denom chips (200 total), then later you have 135k in chips and you take off 5 100 denom chips, etc...

I'll worry about that when I get a seat

Re: Would you ever pocket some WSOP Main Event Chips?

I don't know about taking 8 or even 5 chips, but I would definitely try to pocket 1 or 2....and that would be only if I was fairly certain that I could get away with it. The only situation that would change this would be if I was really far in with alot of chips and was scared of getting DQ'd.

Could you imagine the chip pr0n possibilities!!!!!

Not worth the risk. Someone tried this last year and found themselves expelled from the tournament sans the chips they tried to pocket, along with their $10K entry fee.

Re: Would you ever pocket some WSOP Main Event Chips?

The idea crossed my mind last year, but I decided I'd rather keep the chips in play, use them to win a bunch of money and then buy a chip or two on ebay afterwards. The plan didn't exactly work as I hoped.

Maybe this year.

No. I don't want to be known as a rat-holer. I don't care about getting caught by the casino, I don't want any player ever thinking that I cheated. I don't want any player to ever think I've THOUGHT about cheating. I don't cheat. I don't want to be associated with it in any form.

Re: Would you ever pocket some WSOP Main Event Chips?

let's imagine:

i'm playing in my first 10k event, and it's the wsopme.
i'm in the top 100 on day two (with 2700 players left).
i'm in the top 25 on day three (with 1000 players left). i have 200k in chips. i decide i can afford to take a 100, a 500, and a 1000 out of my stack for my ct pals to oogle.

i'm caught. i go home immediately, having been booted.

results:
  • no chips
  • no cash (which was previously a sure thing)
  • no possible HUGE cash (not a sure thing, but not farfetched anymore either)
  • my name all over here and 2+2 as the dumbest guy ever at the wsop (worse than eric molina, approaching jamie gold status)

upside:
if i don't get caught, i get to show off some chips that you could see at cardplayer anyhow.

What do you suppose the penalty for snapping a pic with your cameraphone of your pimptastic chip stack is? I think 10 minutes would be worth it to me to show that bad boy on ct.net!

Hell, you could use the 10 minutes to upload it via the web browser on the phone!
