I was looking for CHEAP chips for a charity tournament. Figured dice slugs were what I would end up with. With a little research I found super diamonds a little cheaper, then I stumbled onto the faux clay threads. Turns out the faux clay were a little cheaper yet - just as ugly as dice chips around the edge but a little cheaper. Order a few dozen just to see what all talk about faux clays was all about.
Then I found the mother of all cheap azz chips. I still don't know what to call them but they are very similar to what homepokertourney calls "real clay" chips. They have the edge spots (no ugly dice around the edge) and they have a recessed area for a label. They are not slugs, weigh about 9 grams. The colors are pretty dull, in fact the red chip is a rusty color of red (similar to the faux clay red). Now here is the best part. 1000 chips shipped for...drum roll please......$29.98 (off ebay). Not sure were the cheapest place to get faux clays is but when I ordered some off dcg they were about double this price when you factor in shipping.
Unless they have the same or better feel, sound, and stacking ability, they would just be another inexpensive chip. An inexpensive chip, w/ edgespots and an even larger injection dimple than a true faux (oxymoron) clay.
I guess if there is a cult (w/in a cult ) of Faux Clay Nation members that are actually drawn to the Fauxs, due mainly to the injections dimple; then the absurd size of the dimple on this chip might steal away some of the weaker/weirder members.
True you do need labels for them. Yes thats crazy...they put the injection mold dimple where the chip label will cover it instead off on the outer edge where you can enjoy looking at it... that was so stupid.
How high do you need to stack them to pass the stackability test?
