value of chips 20 yrs from now

I'm new to poker chips' world. Just wonder, what happen to the value of paulson's poker chips 20 yrs from today? Will it hold its value or drop?
Let say 20yrs from now, people come out with a totally better technology to make chips.W ill all the old chips will be worthless? Thanks.

Re: value of chips 20 yrs from now

If I could predict the future, I could be the richest man in the world. I believe the price will be higher 20 years from now but whether it will beat inflation is unknown.

Re: value of chips 20 yrs from now

i'm talking about in general not specificly paulson chips whether they increase or decrease . I'm trying to compare the value of let say 1980 chips to see whether their value increase or decrease. In general, do chips increase or decrease value because i see a lot of people collect chips, my self as well ?Like i said, i'm new to this. I haven't had time to do all the research. Thanks

id say it depends on what your collecting... i look at it like stock.

i'm lying of course, because i buy every chip i can

but really, some chips will hold their value better than others... some chips can be turned over quickly for a profit... even cheap chips... look at the Faux Clays.. I couldnt have told you last year that a $.06 per chip investment would be paying off in spades from the Faux Clay Nation.. if you have the right colors... FCN i'd never do that to ya!

i buy chips i like & prefer NCV. but i'll buy anything... take the 5 sample sets of porn stars just to get 5 $1000 Ron Jeremy chips LOL

I'll wager casino chips over time will appreciate better.

i am not a chip collecting expert. but CT has made me wiser!

I hope in 20 years, i am still using the chips i have today...

Re: value of chips 20 yrs from now

Well, in 1970 my Dad walked out of a bunch of Vegas casino's with $5 chips in his pocket. Total invenstment $115. Check out this thread to see what they could be worth today: http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/chip-i...hips-pics.html

Re: value of chips 20 yrs from now

First, you can't assume what's popular today will be popular in 20 years. As a kid I had a beer can collection worth maybe $200. Today it's worth like 5 bucks.

But I doubt poker will be so short lived. I think what will be valuable is names collectors will still recognize in 20 years. So Vegas strip chips will be valuable, while President New Yorkers or the San Juan Casino chips may be not so valuable.

Re: value of chips 20 yrs from now

Are you asking about Paulson chips made for the home market or Paulson chips made for casino's?

If it's home sets I think you buy the chips because you like the way they look and handle. You use them to play at home with your friends. Does it matter how much they are worth in 20 years if you enjoy the chips. They will last you a lifetime.

Not to sound too pessimistic or anything, but let's hope that in 20 years we're still playing with chips/cheques (in casinos).
Who knows what the future will bring ...

Re: value of chips 20 yrs from now

Many cruise ships have already gone to all digital tables. Insert credit card and money hits the table digitally. Even the cards at the poker tables are digital - no misdeals. Same for blackjack. I think it sucks, but it makes sense from a business standpoint. I wouldn't be suprised if, in 20 years, casino chips were obsolete. Hope not though.

Re: value of chips 20 yrs from now

I could never play poker without chips and cards in my hands. If casino's go all digital in the future that will mark the end of my casino poker career. But there will never be any digital poker in my home game.
