Looking for new chips.

Hi everyone. I have a set of 500 skulls, I love them.
I play usually with 5 or 6 friends NL 25 or NL 50. Hardly never tournaments.

I have been user here pretty long, but no much posts. Now there is a big problem for me. I am fell in love with clay chips (ASM <3 and Paulson <3). Those are pretty expensive and my budget is bit limited (in a downswing )

I live in Finland and I am not interested in too big shipping costs.

I'd like to buy set of 400-500 and I definatly want an inlay to them. I have been thinking of set somethig like this: 100 or 75x 10c. 200 or 225x 25c 150x or 125x 1d and 50x 5d.
Does it sound good?

I have been thinking of buying used chips in good condition... If I say my budget is 300dollars (maybe bit more) am I nuts to think I'll get a good set of chips.

What chips do you recommend, I can't get paulsons so what is out there.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Maybe i should sell those skulls to get budget of 400d

Re: Looking for new chips.

I'd recommend eliminating your .25 cent chips in your set-up, and get more bang for your buck as opposed to buying 2x the amount of .25, you can get half the amount of chips for the same $ value by just adding a .50 chip...Then you have .10-.50-1.00-5.00 chip values......I wouldnt think you'd want to play .25/.50 blinds on a $25 buy-in, but you could just make the game .50/.50 or .20/.40 perhaps, or you could keep it .25/.50 but only need like (40) .25 chips to accomodate small blinds, but really, who isnt going to complete their SB for .25 if they have that option....Just my opinion, as I found it ridiculous to spend alot of money buying 400 .25 chips, as opposed to 200 .50 cent chips to accomodate my games.

Just some food for thought...maybe you enjoy having alot of .25 cents in play with is cool too, but I found .10>.50>1.00 alot better then .10>.25>1.00 as far as chip progressions for the games we play...usually $20-$40 buy in.

As far as chips go, I'd look around in the m2m sales forum here, and ebay for a used set of Blue chips (Bonds perhaps?) in good condition.

Re: Looking for new chips.

We have been playing with .25 skulls for ages and it has worked well. Blinds .10 and .25. it has worked great. I will have some thought at that. Just that my friends are used to .25. Are they ready to play with bigger stakes maybe.

Re: Looking for new chips.

I personally like the skulls and would stick with those until your budget increases. You can find them on here for anywhere .33-.40/chip. Just check out the M2M and you will find plenty of great deals...

Re: Looking for new chips.

you will have a hard time finding clays with those denoms for that price.

you may have better luck looking for some starbursts or cherries, or some blank asm's.

I believe solid blue chip hotstamps are .50/chip with no art fee if you get one of their denoms. no idea what shipping would be though.

Re: Looking for new chips.

But i need those clays well, maybe I'll stick to these but I'll keep my ears and eys open if I see good deals. I have 200x 25c 100x 1d 100x 10c and 50x 5 (also used as 2). Works perfectly.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I definately need to stop watching pictures of paulsons

Re: Looking for new chips.

those denoms don't need to be exactly those. Now we use 100d chip as 10cents...

Re: Looking for new chips.

Someone is selling a cash set (25c, $1, $5, $25) of ASM eagles for 40c each... Recollection is 1000 chips for $400 shipped, and he was willing to break it down into smaller sets... so 500 chips would only be $200.

Sorry, I thought I read somewhere u were playing .25/.50, but I misread.....Still, with .10/.25 cent, you might as well play .10/.20 cent no?...then you can add a .50 cent chip...no need for quarters, and you get double your value in your chip purchasing, however you may want to add more .10 chips then you're currently using....When we play .10/.20 for example at a $20 buy-in, I start the stacks at (20) .10 chips, (20) .50 cent chips, and ( 8 ) $1 chips...works well for me, and puts alot of chips on the table.

again, just my opinion-
