I went in to work today, which I guess is now yesterday, expecting to have a quick game of poker after getting off shift at 2300h. As I walk out my door to leave, I realize I haven't got any chips with me. "No problem", I think, "Chris will be there and he always brings chips if he's working overnight". Once I arrive, however, I discover Chris is working the same shift I am, and has brought no chips (I tend to always have chips with me, but today I was borrowing my sister's car.)
We are immediately concerned. The evening game was shaping up to be larger than normal, with three guys staying late and one guy coming in who wasn't working, we'd have a 7 man tourney, instead of our normal 4 or 5.
Luckily we knew the guy coming in owned some chips, but they were Dice chips. Slightly above average dice chips, but I still am not a big fan of playing with them. We give him a call to bring them. Unfortunately, he has lent them out to a friend of his. We were about to have one of the bigger games of the year, and nobody has chips! As a known chip geek, this is also somewhat embarassing for me.
Fortunately, my supervisor, and his supervisor, both wanted to see this game happen. At 2145h they sent me home to get some chips.

My wife was fairly surprised to see me. Got back to work by ten thirty with a nice set of Faux Clays, ready to rock. Wish the story had a better ending than me busting out fourth, AJ vs AQ, but I that's the way it goes sometimes, especially when you should have been home and in bed instead of playing
