Cruising Ebay I see a commemorative chip by Paulson. The guy has in his listing as a selling point that they are out of business. I asked him what he meant and he responded "I mean Paulsons. They were bought out.
I'll fix that in my listing". Can someone educate me on this?
They were definitely bought or acquired by GPI sometime back, and I think that's partly why they don't make chips like the casino de mexicos or the fabulous las vegas series anymore. Also why they only make home chips through trademark with different molds than the ones they use for their casino chips.
If he is saying that they are no longer in production and/or this makes them more exclusive or more valuable, then he is mistaken. There are new Paulsons coming out all the time, not necessarily accessible chips, but they are still being produced nonetheless.
The company that has truly gone out of business is TR King. As I understand, they are making no more chips ever again.
This webpage shows an SEC filing by GPI in 1996 amending a previous K-10 (whatever that is) so AFAIK, nothing has changed hands since then... GPI is a publicly traded company that was a merger of three companies... bud jones, paulson and a french company I don't feel like trying to spell
I found the complete company history on Paulson gaming. The ebay listing has this word for word.
Paulsons is no longer in buisness.
According to the company history Bourgogne et Grasset and Bud Jones became subsidiaries of Paul-Son, the transaction was really a reverse merger. Bourgogne et Grasset received a controlling interest in the company, and Bourgogne et Grasset's controlling stockholder, Francois Carrette, took over as chairman of the board while its CEO, Gerard Charlier, became Paul-Son's president and CEO. Eric Endy stayed on as executive president.
