As Christmas approaches I'm looking for a good but cheap set to offer some of my friends to get them started and avoid them the ubiquitous dice set.
I have set my mind on 10g Sopranos since they seem to be hard to beat for the money (I just can't get used to the Faux Clay's pimple spot plus solids won't appeal to the profane I'm afraid).
Trouble is shipping quotes from US online retailers are ridiculously high (like $80 or even more), and the only retailer in France which has them offers 500-piece sets with fixed quantities (grrr) at about 100 Euros, which is really high compared with the 10 cent/chip I saw at some US online shops.
Does anybody know of another retailer in Europe that may have cheaper prices, or of some tips to have lower shipping costs from the USA? (Except than going there yourself since I'm not going back anytime soon).

Thank you for your help.
Bascombe,
I remember looking for these a while back, specifically the 10gr version and could not find them anywhere, the only ones I found were 8gr:
They're about the same price as the 8g in your link, i.e. kind of outrageous when you compare to prices the other side of the Atlantic.
Plus in the case of the French retailer, the quantities are fixed. The good thing about the 8g sopranos is the variety of colors. It seems impossible to find purple or grey 10g sopranos now. But reviews place the 10g above the 8g...
So maybe the question is how do we get the chips to travel more cheaply when we are not flying there ourselves ?
