Chips: 167 | | | Teach a man to fish... So when my game met two weeks ago, we played with my Faux Clays. No one really feels that strongly about FCs one way or the other in my game (the fools); they all have some variation on dice chips. Over the last couple years, no one had ever really commented on the FCs. Or on dice chips, when those have been in play.
But when we played last time, I mentioned that I had new chips on their way (Condado Beach Ceramics from the GB). I won't lie to you -- I took some **** for it. I tried to explain that I'd become involved with this on-line community of, well, chip enthusiasts, and that I had taken part in this group buy, etc., but that just got me some more ribbing.
Well, last night the Condado Beach set made it's debut. Initial responses were fine -- these look nice, cool set, etc. -- but after we'd played two tournies, everyone was on board. They loved the feel and play of the chips and since this was the first time our game had used denomed chips, everyone really liked that as well.
I don't think any of them are rushing to sign up here, but I felt like a small piece of knowledge had been passed along and that the guys in my game were just a little bit better for it. |

I had a tourney last night and brought samples that I picked up last week (JBs, NJs, Deadwoods and Rounders) for a little show and tell. Most of the guys never even knew stuff like this existed (heck I didn't until a few weeks ago). They play with dice chips. Once they started shuffling their eyes opened up a bit and they were impressed with the sound and feel; however, 5 minutes into the tourney I think all was forgotten. |

They are still impressed by the guy who bought dice chips and had them hot stamped with denoms and his initials. |

I tried to use Cherry casino Paulson's one night and they didn't like them at all!!!!!! I'm hoping because they were familiar with my ASM's with denominations at that point. I sold those and bought a set of BC Diamond chips from 'Tilt'. A few people thought those were really cool, but I'm not planning to use those much at all. I'm busting out the Bellagio's tonight for some action. I have a feeling everyone will like these. My wife actually said she liked them which is a major feat as she thinks I'm insane. As long as they make us chipaholics happy, that's all that counts. |

Chips: 270 | | | Re: Teach a man to fish... So here's my situation. I spent a good amount on chips and labels, etc. so far. The wife tells me the cost comes from my bank roll and not "our money". I took a hit last night in a tourney so now I am back to low stakes. I have to grind away at low stakes to build up a bigger roll to pay for more chips. I can host more games since I have nice new chips, but mu buddies don't want to "wear out" my new chips. Vicious cycle. |

At one of my last birthday parties, 3 different people brought me "Arrogant Bastard Ale" to drink (I love beer) and I had to laugh.
I guess my reputation exceeds me. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
