Are these Paulson Shaped Inlays?

I lost these to KingoCards in an auction last night, but I am still dying to know what they are, anyone have any idea?

I vote yes.

So what did they end up going for?

Re: Are these Paulson Shaped Inlays?

I won the auction for $289+ $28 shipping. I was bidding on these pretty much because it looked like they had shaped inlays. I did a little research before bidding and couldn't pin them down.

Quads sent me a email shortly after the auction ended and said it looks like they are from the Argosy Casino in IN. They do look to be the same chips.

The bad news is they are most likely hot stamped with the starburst stamp. I'll post some pics as soon as they show up.

Re: Are these Paulson Shaped Inlays?

Nice looking chips, and the h/s can probably be removed reasonably easily.

Faux shaped inlays obviously, but still very nice chips.

I'd bet a nickel that these are indeed Argosy hot stamps. I have seen a couple of them and I like them a lot.

I'm going to invoke the power of Jim "Gaming Ore" Follis and give you some background on the chips.

These chips were designed with the incorrect name on the chip. Indiana Gaming Commission demands that the business name be on the checks. However, the designers fouled up and made the checks with the name "Argosy". Argosy is the name of the boat, not the name of the company.

The business name is Indiana Gaming Company. That meant that all the checks had to be destroyed, hotstamped. After they were stamped they were offered via the Pualson retail stores.

I live very close to the Argosy and it is the first casino gambling expierience i've had. That being said, I'd be happy to make some interesting trades for them.

Could you provide a link to the finished auction. I would like to see how they were listed.

Judging by the icon in the corner (Steal It Back) -- and the fact that Quads was watching it, I'm nearly certain it was on Property Room... Lemme go find it.

Hmmm... Property Room has no ability to search closed auctions... Someone who has the link because they bid on it should be able to post it...

Re: Are these Paulson Shaped Inlays?

I watched the auction from the day it was posted and was hunting for some type of ID on the chips since then.

The info I got on them, which I passed on to Kingocards is information I gathered from a sidebar conversation with Jim (Gaming Ore). We all seem to agree that they are from Agrosy, but Kingocards will be the one to show his goods once they arrive. (looking forward to seeing them)

I was going to bid on them, but decided against it, a) they are likely hot stamped, and didn't care for that and more importantly, b) I didn't want to get in a bidding war once I saw kingocards show up on the auction bidding list.

The auction can be seen here:
