I have a whole lot of chips now and I don't really have plans to use them on a regular basis. I guess I could sell them off, but just can't. Right now a lot of them are kept in paulson racks about 3 to 5 high. My question is if I keep them like that for months without using them would my clay chips get damaged (ie. will they get crushed over time?). I'm thinking of getting cases for them, but that just means less money to buy chips. Thanks for any responses.
There shouldn't be a problem as long as the environment is relatively dry. The compression molded chips can be affected by humidity and heat, so you'll probably want to keep them away from temperature extremes. Contrary to popular belief, there isn't any clay per se, in the compression molded chips, though the common nomenclature is to refer to them as "clay" chips. So don't worry about them crumbling away. The composition is primarily a combination of plastics and polymers, and some sort of weighted material (white lead, brass, etc) for weight.
