Bluechip James Bonds

I was wondering how many of you have this set and how you like it, I have never felt any Bluechip chips, but Its hard for me to imagine how these look stacked up and if they are too light at 9 grams.

Thanks guys

Re: Bluechip James Bonds

I don't have that exact set, but I do have some of the chips from that same mold. They stack well, as well as any of the other compression molded chips. While there are a lot of web forum postings proclaiming them to be too light (I don't think they're even close to 9 grams), but quite honestly there have been some older casino chips that were around the same weight as the Blue Chips. The one thing that is notable with the Blue Chip products is that the earlier inlays are often off-center and/or have distorted shapes. Don't know if any of that has been addressed, but it looks like one of their owners, Mike Endy, posts here under the screen name of BCC.

The ones that I was thinking of are some of the brighter color TH&C chips that were made either by the Burt Company or by Paulson in the 70's and 80's.

Re: Bluechip James Bonds

I did have a set of these, and I immediately returned them due to the high % of off-centered and mishapped inlays. I got tired of separating the bad vs. good ones, too many bad ones. Although the ones pictured looks like the orginal BC JB's (seems to have had a better inlay), for the price, I would rather buy a set of NPS or other Paulson Chips. There are also newer BC chips such as the Samurai's that have addressed some of the OC issues.

Well I really like the mold, and the colors, and the Retro old school look, I think this will be my next set.
Is there other sets that look exactly like this but are made differently or by a different company.
If so where I might be ableto find them?

These are based on the Paulson James Bond chips they released in 1998, but no longer make. Snuffy has a set for sale in M2M -- check it out. But expect to pay more per chip due to their being Paulsons, on the much-preferred TH&C mold, and no longer available.

BTW, I like the Blue Chip versions, too, but they don't compare to the original Paulson version.

Re: Bluechip James Bonds

If it's just the mold that you like, they are still in the business of making chips. You could contact Blue Chip and see about getting chips customized to your needs on that mold. If you like the inlay, then that's a different story and you're a bit more limited in your choices.

Here's a picture of what they (i.e., the Blue Chip Versions) look like on-edge:

Not my photo -- I lifted this from a recent Ebay auction that I was bidding on.

A friend of mine has those ... I like them. Yes, there'll be some off center and perhaps mis-shapen inlays, but honestly, that doesn't really bother ME, as I think it just adds "character" to the chips ... and they have a great progressive spot pattern from chip to chip, unlike the Paulson JBs have (those are all the same pattern). These have that hard tough clay feeling that's unmistakably Blue Chip (it's a good thing). If you haven't done so already, order a sample set and test them out for yourself before commiting ...

Just to clarify, the 2005 Paulson JB versions have all the same spot patterns, but the original JBs (1998 versions) don't. The originals really are sweet chips.
