WSOP Tournament chip weight

Today, I received my WSOP 100 NCV Chip.

So, I try weighing it with my pocket scale. Suprising, the chip only weighs 8.7 grams. Pretty light for a BJ.

Pics coming soon

WHAT!?! You mean to tell me they are not the full 11.5 gram official casino weight! Outrageous.

Nice chip.

Re: WSOP Tournament chip weight

Oh, I thought the WSOP chips had inserts and weigh 11.5 grams

Had no idea they were the non-inserted ones...

Did you say a pocket scale? I wonder what the other uses for a pocket scale are? I won't even try to guess.

Re: WSOP Tournament chip weight

I guess it depends upon which chip you actually got. The BJ chips are V7s and should weigh around 12 grams and there should be a brass insert under the decal/label/inlay.

Re: WSOP Tournament chip weight

I probably shouldn’t say this... but.... I had a couple of friends played in this years WSOP ... one of them from the main event (he placed in the $ somewhere around 350ish... don’t want to give away who he was! lol) anyhoo... they both walked away with a chip as a souvenir I will have to ask him to bring it with him next time so we can take a weight! Might be interesting to see how one taken from the table fairs! I will post something about it when I do!

Re: WSOP Tournament chip weight

I wouldn't worry about it. With all of the contestants at this year's World Championship Event, I'm sure they knew they were going to lose some chips. And I'm sure your friends aren't the only ones who stole chips from one of the many tournament events that were held in Vegas alone (not counting the satellites.) As it would appear, there are already a few who are trying to recoup some if not much of their buy-in money by selling their "souveniers" on fleeceBay.

While the Mob may have been forced out of the big-time operations by the NGC and the mighty corporations, Vegas is still full of small time hustlers that will do just about anything for a buck. I wouldn't be surprised to see more and more WSOP collectables appear as time passes.

Of course, I'm sure that much of the membership here would think that HET/WSOP could avoid that kind of stuff by just selling off their chips after the WSOP each year and starting with a safe secured set each year.
