Do the Sopranos feel like Neophytes from Sidepot or are they more plasticy-feeling?
I dont have either of those to compare to, but they dont feel like plastic. More like a $1 casino clay... you know how they feel after the edges are ground down and the surface is slick. Its basically a smooth surface clay chip with less heft than a paulson. I used mine forever and have bequethed most to friends as I have upgraded.

These do not feel like Neophytes at all. These are much harder, more like ABS than that rubber feeling the Neophytes and Kingpins have. I have them mixed together in a cash game set. I use the Pink Kingpin as a .50¢ chip and the Yellow as a $2 chip.
Hope that helps.
*EDIT*
The Sopranos are a little thinner as well.

Just a little piece of info I found with the sopranos... you can do with it what you please
One thing I found with the purple sopranos is that they are VERY dark purple.... in any room that isn't perfectly lit, they are very hard to distinguish from the black chips... so if you are planning on using the black and purple chips together, it could potentially be a problem.

which is precisely why they got pulled from my set....
its not just black, its blue too. We just couldnt deal with the color... I actually pulled blue in favor of black.

Here is a shot of them together in broad daylight (EX: about as good as they look together):
