My poker chip buying history (WITH PICS)

Almost 3 years ago I found the "cards, chips, and tables" section of Texasholdempoker and have been a "chip freak" ever since. At the start of CT, I like many others migrated over from TH-P and 2+2 to the ultimate chip site created by Tenpercenter.

I thought I would post my poker chip buying history with some pics (since I am bored and since we all like chip pics).

1st set (before finding a chip site)
$80.00 for 500 pc Las Vegas Hotstamped dice chips with generic breakdown. Used these for about a month and decided I needed to upgrade because while they were decent chips IMO at the time, I needed something better. Sold these to a friend from my home game for $40 to fund my next purchase.

2nd set (still before finding a chip site)
$280.00 for Las Vegas Real Clay 9 gram chips. These are the ones that VERY light and pretty slick when stacked. Got completely screwed on the price, as you can see. Used these chips for about 2 months. Sold the chips to a different friend for $120.00 after finding TH-P.com and realizing that I am a complete dope.

3rd set
After learning a lot of new things at TH-P an opportunity arose one day for some TR King chips for $.25 per chip...Yes, the 'damaged' Casbah Club chips. I quickly snagged 500 of these, cleaned them up, and was very happy with my purchase. A great deal for $125.00, but I was quickly itching for something new. I tried to add on some pink hotstamped $1,000 denom chips to feed my craving, but it didn't work. I kept hearing the manufacturer name "Paulson", and I just had to have a set. Sold the Casbah's on ebay for $300 and used the cash to fund my next purchase.

4th set
This set came from my first group buy. The GB was for the 2005 JB Paulsons, and was run by good ol' Nugzy. These chips were sold on the chiptalk.net m2m section a LONG time ago, but they were great chips and I really enjoyed them.

5th set
The fifth set came from my second GB. The chips were the Paulson Pharaoh's. I saw this as an improvement over the JB chips and definitely had to have some. I purchased 400 of these through the GB and used them for several months before hearing of the new special spots offered by ASM. These were eventually sold here on the CT m2m setction.

6th set
After waiting many many months, I finally received my custom ASM's. Right after receiving the first batch I immediately ordered enough to put my order to 525 chips, which I just received this week. I will be keeping these forever, but I'm sure I will be adding more chips in the future, just not selling these babies. Heck...I already have 500 Bellagio's on the way!!!

Ahhh the good old days.
We should tally up all the names of the original THPers that travelled over and form the next group/nation (the O.G.T.H.P's)

You had been posting there long before I joined up, but i was fortunate to be around in time for the Nugzy JB GB. Its funny to think back to that time...People were surprised to hear that i was "sending so much money to some guy on the net." (i really think they were expecting me to get hosed) I was a tiny bit apprehensive, but my lust for chips outweighed any fears that I had. Nugzy came through of course, and so began the pattern. From JB's (500) to 1k Pharoahs, then 1k Samurais...

Awesome post panthers ...I never get tired of this nostalgic stuff.

(too bad ya sold those Casbahs though... )

Hey boon, here is some nostalgia:

I started this 2/1/05 and predicted the creation of my BTTF themed chips (some familiar faces posting there too, funny to see)
