Chips: 39 | | Rio D's Casino of Spokane, WA I was able to PURCHASE some chips from this casino, but do not have them in my possession as of yet. Does anyone have any informaion about it? From what I can find, it was opened in 1999 for just a few months before closing. From the seller, I found out that there were $1, $2, $3, $5, and $25 chips, but was unable to get photos of the $2 or $3. Seller also stated that they were Bud Jones V6 chips. From the pictures he sent me, that apprears true. But he also told me that they were much like Paulsons and could suppliment a set with Paulson chips. From the chips I have held, Paulson and Bud Jones are very different. Any info and/or pics would be great.

Chips: 39 | | | Re: Rio D's Casino of Spokane, WA I was looking for information on the casino/cardroom itself, any more photos of the chips (especially the $2 & $3), who made the chips, and perhaps if anyone had more to sell. I hit the search button on ChipTalk and found no references to Rio D's. |

Chips: 1,033 | | | Re: Rio D's Casino of Spokane, WA A few casinos came and went lately in the Spokane area. This is due to the heavy tax the city of spokane wants to hit casinos with - it was cutting into their operating costs, and made their budgets very difficult to balance. For that reason, the owl club (hooters) ended up in the city of spokane valley. A few area casinos survived the tax nightmare, but these tend to be attached to existing thriving businesses.
Rio D's must have been particularly short lived. I have never heard of it. However, it could be that the name has changed. Possibly, it continues to operate as a different establishment? |

Chips: 479 | | | Re: Rio D's Casino of Spokane, WA It looks like it may have been an illegal joint that got busted before they opened. I got this info from the Washington State Gambling Comm. site.
First it isn't listed in the licensed cardrooms/recently licensed cardrooms here: http://www.wsgc.wa.gov/docs/card_room/hb_cr.pdf
Also I found this... it is more or less a log of legal action taken in gaming
, from the July 2001 "Card Room Connection" published by the WSGC. Licensee: Daphne Schubach/Picasso Holding, LLC, Spokane Action: Seizure: 8 blackjack tables; 30 decks of playing cards with “Rio D’s” logo; 6 card shoes. Outcome On August 21, 2000, agents seized items found at a business located at 13524 E. Sprague Avenue, Spokane, because there was probable cause to believe such items were used or were intended to be used in connection with professional gambling activity. A forfeiture hearing was held; the Administrative Law Judge issued an Order denying the claims filed by Picasso Holding LLC, and Daphne Schubach. Picasso Holding, LLC, filed a Petition for Review. The Commission upheld the Administrative Law Judge’s ruling.
- I am not a legal guy but that is what I could find.
