Chips: 588 | | | Playing with uncirculated casino chips Open question to everyone out there!
For the people with casino chip sets: Ambassadors, St Jos, Grand Casinos, Presidents, Dunes, NYers, yada yada yada...........
What is the condition of your chipsets? Circulated, uncirculated?
If circulated, do you put them into play?
If uncirculated, do you put them into play?
If you don't, do you just have them for 'investment' purposes?
Or do you just sit there at your desk looking at stacks of pristine chips and take pictures for the rest of us to drool at?
I am having a hard time trying to justify buying a set of uncirculated chips and then playing with them with the noobs on my block. We're talking dice chip city here, so I am afraid the jump may fry a few brains.
I am hesitant due to perceived chip abuse, disrespect, and trash talking "you paid how much?" crap.
I feel a little better if they've been through a hurricane or have passed through lots of hands and then it's like, eh, so what, they're already rounded and I didn't pay out of my nose for them anyway...
Help me understand how I can justify putting untouched chips out for people to touch. I understand it is going to take years for uncirculated chips to break in due to the infrequency of our games, but I still feel some hesitation.

Chips: 28 | | | Re: Playing with uncirculated casino chips I don't know if this counts, but I have small stacks (about 10ish or so) from a bunch of casinos that I've visited that I shuffle whilst at work. I rotate which ones I have on my desk as the feeling strikes me. Sooo, I don't have playable sets (yet), but my chips def get fondled... I mean handled, quite a bit.

Chips: 898 | | | Re: Playing with uncirculated casino chips I've got both circulated and mint sets of uncirculated chips of Dunes, Ambassadors, Condado Beach Paulsons. The circulated sets get played with - but gently.
This is what I do with my mint sets and it brings me great pleasure.

Chips: 49 | | | Re: Playing with uncirculated casino chips The chips are meant to be played. Mine all get played, I sold my Dunes because I couldn't bring myself to play them - so why should I have them? If anyone at my game says "you paid how much for these?" I can always come back with success stories of how much money I've made buying and selling chips. I bought Paulson Vineyards back when they were cheap. When I sold them, they were no longer cheap. Same story with the some of the other sets. At a minimum the casino used sets typically hold their value (at least that's been my experience). |

Chips: 3,075 | | | Re: Playing with uncirculated casino chips A little of everything...
I have Palmas that have been used in tournaments, yet still have original boxes that have never seen daylight.
Monte Carlo $1 chips that have seen play in cash games, and 100 mint chips that will remain untouched. (Rumor is new rack of house molds will be released soon)
400 uncirculated Paulson hot stamps...never touched but I have been tempted at times.
and of course, my custom ASM's which have replaced all the previous chips mentioned above, both cash games and tournaments...
It is a sickness, no doubt |

Chips: 905 | | | Re: Playing with uncirculated casino chips I like to just look at ours. Harlequin keeps trying to put our various sets into play, but something keeps foiling his plans... The sad thing is, most of them have seen play before they got to us. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
