Chips: 405 | | | What is your take on Bud Jones chips? I don't know much about Bud Jones chips, and am wondering how other CTers feel about them. I have done a google search to get a little bit of the history, and think that I like the plastic inserts as opposed to coins.
So I am wondering what the options are for getting a set of the plastic-insert Bud Jones, what they would cost, and where to look for them (other than ebay). The ones I have seen so far are the Old Wyndam and the hotstamped St. Joe's Frontier sets.
Any suggestions, opinions, advice, links, or pictures would be greatly appreciated. | | Sponsored Links | |

But you can absolutely collect them from different casinos. As you said there are essentially threetypes of BJ chips (yes there are others but I am talking common, in fact dont know if they make the di-cards anymore). Here is an example of each of them --
The first type is probably what you are talking about. They are fairly common in casino, with the plastic inlays. In Atlantic City, the Borgata chips are a good example of these. Some people don't like them -- me being one of them -- as they are VERY slippery. The second is a reasonably inexpensive incused mold hotstamped chip. There have non-incused as well, but lots of places use these types for fractionals and such. The last one in the group is often called a CIC (coin in center) chip. These are becoming less and less. In fact there is only one place left in LV that still uses these in the $1 denom -- same for AC, we are down to 1. |

You are not experiencing dice chips here. Budjones are soft and fits comfortably in you hands. They are EXTREMELY durable (do not wear like clay) and tend to stay very clean. For this reason, I think BJ will eventually take the lead against clay under Casino environment.
All that being said, I still like clay the best. The closest home custom set that resembles Bud JOnes is probably the Matsui. However, i believe the MIN order is 10,000 |

Concerning the 1st chip (like the Borgata) I agree it is slipery but very (and I mean very) easy to shuffle with. Stackability is good. It is acctually one of few plastics that I like. |

I like BJ chips a lot and I was dissapointed when the casino where I played with BJ chips switched to Paulsons. |
