Rec'd my Faux Clays today & I feel BETRAYED by the FCN.

I feel that the diehard fanboys of these so called "faux clay" chips may have misrepresented their quality just a tad....

....becuase these things ****ing rock! As much as you guys tout the feel/sound of these chips, you're not doing them justice. I was SHOCKED when I opened the package and started stacking & playing around with my first 100 faux clays on my desk here at work. They're great chips. For the price, they are THE BEST chips. Period.
  • THEY REALLY FEEL LIKE CLAY - They're not that far off from the feel of high end clay chips. Even the edges have a chalky/claylike feel - nothing like plastic chips.
  • THEY REALLY SOUND LIKE CLAY - When you riff thorough a stack they sound like Paulsons, only slightly more muted. If I'd never felt them before and was allowed to fondle them while blindfolded, I'd mistake them for clay for sure.
  • THE WEIGHT IS PERFECT - Their weight is in between my Paulson NPS chips and my ASM samples. I weighed stacks of 8 on my postal scale and the ASMs, Faux Clays, and Paulsons weighed 2.5 oz, 2.6 oz, and 2.8 oz, respectively.
  • THE COLORS AREN'T OBNOXIOUS - I like the muted colors of the Faux Clays. I'm especially fond of the brick-like red chips. I can't wait to see the gray, orange and yellow.
  • THEY'RE EXTREMELY DURABLE - They are much more durable than the TRKing and ASM samples that I threw at the concrete a few weeks ago out of sheer curiousity and boredom. Though, the Faux Clays will shatter if you throw them with enough force. It took me 3 full-force throws directly onto a concrete slab to break one.
  • THE PRICE IS RIGHT - For just over 4 cents each, how can you go wrong? They're cheaper than playing with nickels!
The ONLY drawbacks as far as I'm concerned are the injection spots and the edges will turn white when scuffed hard enough (you can see this in some pics). But writing off chips that are this good for such petty reasons is like kicking Jessica Alba out of bed for eating crackers.

I wasn't expecting much when I placed my order for 120 of these puppies, but I had to see what all the fuss was about. Imagine my surprise. I still can hardly believe how great they feel for not being compression molded clay chips. ...and for $.045 each!!! Opening the box and playing with them for the first time was like taking warm jeans out of the dryer and finding a $100 bill inside that you didn't know you'd lost.

Color me converted. I'm placing a follow-up order for another 1000 as soon as I decide on the breakdown.

Vocabulary Word For The Day:

Serendipity The feeling of bliss after you experience a pleasant, unexpected surprise... afterglow, if you will.

Finding $100 in your pocket (heck, I'll even take a $20), handling Faux Clays for the first time and realizing they cost less than five cents each... that's serendipity, man!

Well that does it, I'm getting me a set. Will the yellow, orange, and grey ever be maunfactured again?

No, but with some searching and some luck you can find some floating around

If they only had edgespots I would be a convert. But you never know when I see what they looked labeled... maybe just maybe. Everyone who has felt my samples has loved them.
