Alright, I'm having some problems with NJ concerning the acceptance of a PSO custom promotion. Long story short, here's the mock-up they did:

You can obviously see that the font of the text and denominations don't match. They actually are drasticaly different. All the examples on the NJ site have matching text/denomination fonts for all 4 examples of the standard custom chips. They did not permit me in any imput other than the wording and amounts of the denominations. Now that I want my chip to be acceptable and in lines with all the company's examples, they want me to pay $25. I never asked them to change the font on the original example to begin with. Something I was excited to get has totally been a nightmare. I don't want chips that are unacceptable.

Am I being unreasonable? Any opinions welcome here.

I left a voicemail this moring concerning this issue, but this whole scenario has been like beating my head against a wall. I'll continue to call, but have an email that this was the owner's decision to charge the fee.

If the examples match the fonts, then no, you are not being unreasonable.

Now, is it worth the fight? It seems that this will bother you if you accept it, you won't be happy with the chips if the fonts don't match, and you will notice it every time you use the chips, so I guess it is worth the fight.

I actually like the way the fonts are different, though. I personnally would try to get these chips with only the denominations and not the other text.

i dont think the fonts look TOO different, at least not in actual size. where is the example they show?

Thanks for the responses. I'm trying to be reasonable as well. The text has a personal meaning with my family name, so that is an important part of the customs for me.

Here's an example of the choice for these customs.

I assumed the text font would be the same, but they changed that for whatever reason. I actually like the font text of my mock-ups. Kind of an old country feel to it.

I have no idea why this is a fight in any way. I know the non-matching fonts will bother me until the day these are passed down to my sons.

OK , so it looks like they kept the denom font the same as the example, but slightly changed the font on the wording. yes?

Matching font seems a totally reasonable request. They should be asking themselves: “Why would anyone think this is acceptable”

I may be missing something here, but the denom font on both images you posted is the same, correct? I think you are trying to say that you want the denom font to match the other text on the chip, not that NJ changed it on you after the fact, right?

I know that NJ is strict as far as what changes they allow on the PSO promos, but since you're ok with the unexpected font change on the text, why are you so adamant that the denom must match? They probably have a template setup to keep costs to a minimum for these, and if you want something changed, I don't think $25 is that unreasonable. Keep in mind that it may not be as simple as clicking a button and changing the denom font. It looks like 3 layers (stroked) on them, and there may be size/kearning issues to deal with.

Its quite common (and pretty much the norm) that denom fonts don't match other fonts on a chip, so I don't understan the conern. Again, I may be missing something, so please clarify.

Johnny- Correct I would like them to match(text & denomination). Without the option to pick what I wanted, I would like continuity of the two. That's just a personal preference. I was fully expecting the font to be the same as the examples which would have been ok, but they took that upon themselves to change the text font which I actually liked. I just don't like the way the denomination font looks in comparison to the text font. Maybe it's the 'Monk' in me.

I know there are strict rules concerning the PSO promotion and what I am requesting appears to be a realistic expectation of anyone who gets these.

One of the great members of this board actually paid the money to NJ. This whole thing came down to a trade of AB's for the PSO promotion. So the trader bit the bullet and paid the money. I am against this in principle, but who am I to argue. I guess I'll stop whining about this whole thing. I'm now getting a little excitement back to get these chips. The family/heritage meaning of 'Sto Lat' is very special to me.
