Chips: 349 | | | 1 chip & 1 coin denom cash set I was thinking of a 1 chip & 1 coin denom low stakes cash set that I believe someone was doing here already. Mixing coins with chips on purpose. Anyhow using quarters didn't seem like a good idea because of there size and easy findings, plus you can get .25 cent chips pretty easy. So half dollars came to mind since they are bigger like a chip (30.5mm x 2.1mm) and will stack to some degree too. It also increases the capital of the set where quarters don't add much. Not a dime (I mean half dollar) a dozen like quarters so that would work for doing .50/1.00 blinds with a $25 buy-in and enough capital (see below). Of course the blinds are kinda big for the buy-in but then it should tighten the game up...LOL.
So I found a half dollar rack but not sure how many coins it will hold. I'm pretty sure at least 100, which is exactly what I would get. So you would have your racks along with your poker chip case. Reason for getting a nice $1 chip is because of the real money. Would go better with the coin I think. I was bored, what can I say?
100 x .50 (half dollar coin)
500 x $1 Casino chip or nice home chip
600 coin/chips for $550 |

Some other positives are very secure unless you have dirt bags who go to the bank to get half dollars and add them to the game. So if you have a nice $1 chip then people would be wasting their time. Half dollars cost less than a nice home .50 cent chip. Though your starting coin/chip count would be 30, there is a chance for more chips on the table later in the night. Then I checked the measurement of the rows in my 650 chip case and 100 would fit perfectly (around 5 to spare for room to get them out) in place of one row of 60 chips. Half dollars are a little smaller than acrylic spacers. Half dollars weigh 11.1-11.4 grams. |

Chips: 349 | | | Re: 1 chip & 1 coin denom cash set Without any $5 chips you would need a lot of $1 chips for a 3/6 game, especially a kill game. This set would work nicely for a 1/2 limit game. |

If someone sneaks a half dollar "chip" into the game he's paying $.50 for it and gaining (wait for it...) $.50 in the game. Now if you were using the half dollar coin for a $50 chip in the game I could see it but that's not what you're talking about here. |

You can get nice chips for less than $1. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
