Chips: 4 | | | Bud Jones V7...are metal slugged? Hi,
I like everyone else on this board absolutely hate dice metal slugged official 11.5 gram crap chips!
And like everyone else here love Bud Jones chips.
However I read that Bud Jones V7 which we all crave have a metal insert! http://www.gpigaming.com/usa_products_chips_bj.shtml
It seems like a bit of a contradiction that we hate dice chips for being metal slugged (and crap in every other aspect as well), but love BJ V7 chips...and they are metal slugged as well!
Your thoughts on this???
Thanks,
MC |

A common misconception is that chips with metal inserts are automatically bad quality. That is not the case. It comes down to a number of other things. How hard and slick the chips are (home market chips are typically too hard and slick which makes them bad stackers), how flat they are (home market chips, in most cases, are not perfectly flat which also makes them bad stackers), the feel and sound (casino chips usually have a very nice feel to them and make a very nice sound in play), the quality of the molding etc. (the visible differences in manufacturing quality), durability (are the chips durable, do they have stickers or real high quality inlays), can you have them customized and will your design be protected (when you buy real casino chips you get chips that no one else have or can ever have made), security features (can you order them with an embedded UV logo, microchip or similar). I could go on and on, I think you see what I'm getting at |

Chips: 18,645 | | | Re: Bud Jones V7...are metal slugged? Yes, they have a metal core (brass so it does not attract a magnet) around which the plastic/rubber compound is precision molded, then machined. This was quite an innovation when invented by Bud Jones Co. And yes, that's a bit of a contradiction since all the later metal slug chips have been made from crappy hard plastic. I don't mind the inside, it's what's on the outside that counts! |

Chips: 2,653 | | | Re: Bud Jones V7...are metal slugged? I discovered that a few months ago. That doesn't bother me. And let me say that I love the way BJ chips look . They are stunning. But I like clay chips. I like the feel, the texture, the sound. I'm sold on Paulson chips and BJ chips just don't do it for me. I find BJ's slippery and hard to manage.
I'm glad I don't like them because I'm a chipaholic and I'd be compulsively buying them like I do Paulson chips. For those of you that love BJ's; you can have all you want. Just send me your Paulsons. |

I know that this has already been stated, but just to reitterate the quality of Bud Jones chips far surpasses that of the measly metal-slugged chips which are massed produced for the general (unknowing, uncaring) public. Matt really put it well, but to use a comparison to another similar subject: cars. All cars are made of the same things really, but the way they are put together and the little extra cares that are taken in making a Mercedes is far different than what goes into making a Geo
