Chips: 71 | | | Welcome to Chip Addicts Anonymous Hi. My name is JD and i'm addicted to poker chips.
I bought my first set of 9g Vegas Pro Clays off of ebay about 3 years ago.
I then moved up to the BC Bonds.
I then moved up to the NJ Clays.
And just recently am moving up to Crystal Parks.
Really, only god knows where I go from here.
Someone please help me, for I have a horrible weakness.

Chips: 3,968 | | | Re: Welcome to Chip Addicts Anonymous Like most addicts, the first hit was free for me...
A friend gave me a set of 300 9g suited plastic chips for Christmas three years ago... I finally got organized enough to have a game, and I over-paid for 11.5 g suited composites to match the set. My wife kept picking up more suited composites when she'd find them on clearance. I even added to the set with 200 chips from Ten Percenter. Now I have 1000 suited composites that I don't use.
The I bought Nexgens with the intention of labelling them. They sat in a birdcage for about 4 months until I finally sold them...new and unplayed.
Next was Skulls. Still playing with those. PSO set...traded to get rid of the low denoms, then bought the 500+300 promo set. Now I have 1300 Skulls.
I have a 400-piece King's Crown cash set in the works, an ASM cash set it the works and the Bellagio group buy tourney chips coming.
Edit: BTW - this is post #999...need one more post. My addiction has created the +3 hammer in about 6 months time...

Chips: 5,839 | | | Re: Welcome to Chip Addicts Anonymous My names Kyle and I have a problem.
In about a 3 year stretch, I started with 600 9g Super Diamonds that I got on clearance for around $17 per 100, what a deal. Never used'em and ended up selling the lot for around $35. Upgrade to 1000 "real clay" 13.5g chips, woo hoo. Used them about 3 times before I sold them off for about 1/3rd of what I bought them at. Moved on to 2100 BPC Neophytes (separate cash and tourney sets) which I've used about 6 times. Sold off the cash set for around $200 and upgraded to some custom ASM's for around $1200. I still have around 1500 BPC Neophytes for my tourney set which doesn't see much use as I host mostly cash games. Currently, I'm fighting the urge acquire a custom tourney set of TR Kings. I'm actually a die owner in the current HS TRK Kings Crown GB but I won't be getting any chips from it as I've decided I'd prefer a custom HS instead of the KC one. Also, I've been bonus whoring on PSO to acquire points so I can get a free set NJ clays for a low limit NL cash set (.25/$1/$5) for no good reason.
Also, I own around 7 setups of various plastic cards (Dal Negro, Modiano, Da Vinci, Kem). Isn't the whole point of plastic cards so you don't need to have many decks of cards laying around? Help |

| I too have more plastic set-ups (Copags, original KEMs, Modianos, Dal Negros) than I do paper decks that I bought before I knew better.

Chips: 1,670 | | | Re: Welcome to Chip Addicts Anonymous Hi everyone, my name is Roland and I too have an addiction,
I have an addiction to whatever catches my eye at the moment. I started collecting casino chips about 3 years ago and my wife said it wouldn't last more than six months. So I set out to prove her wrong. Boy did I ever, I now have over 15,000 casino chips from different casinos all over the world. My wife is such a good woman that she drove me around San Juan, PR so I could pick up casino chips. What a good woman.
My kids just started skating and I am now addicted to skateboards too and have bought about 30 in the past month.
I am Roland and I have an addictive personality and ADD which is an aweful combination. |

Chips: 4,524 | | | Re: Welcome to Chip Addicts Anonymous My addiction started when I was dealing in a mock casino for Dave and Buster's. They were using Paulson Starbursts for chips. And we had a ton of them.
Well the day came when they closed the casino section and gave away the chips. I had about 600 of them that I kept. They also got rid of their nice cards, which happened to be Kem wide arrows SI. I also bought about 10 double sets @ 1 dollar a piece.
I ended up loosing them all in some bad timing with a move. I thought I had longer to get the rest of my things.
The one drawback to the chips is that they were not casino colored. So, I got the chance to correct that issue and bought some of my own Starbursts in casino colors. It was way out of my budget but I scraped up $250.00 to buy 500 of them. Unfortunately, I never got to use them in any games and they lived under my bed and in my closet for about 7 years.
My research lead me to a site that "drink up" had recomended on another forum. So I cited him as a reference, and joined up. Now my chip collection has grown to obscene amounts. (for me) But I'm loving it!

Poker chips are like a good woman. They are great looking, you can play with them and they are a pleasure to handle over and over again. When you get tired of them you can replace them and there is always someone around to take the old ones off your hands. |

Wait a minute, this is just silly. Everything I’m reading in this thread is perfectly normal. You’re all just pushing my chain! |

Chips: 4,346 | | | Re: Welcome to Chip Addicts Anonymous Hi, I'm an addict too.
My friends and I started playing hold'em first using board game tokens or pennies.
Then someone I bought a set of bicycle plastic dollar store type chips.
For Christmas I got a hold'em set in a tin, with the 7.2g plastic suited chips.
Shortly after that I discovered PSO and got a 500 set of suited 11.5s, which I thought were the coolest thing ever, and all my friends were envious.
Then they had to go and have a Nevada Jack promotion which is what really kicked the addiction into high gear. I was in awe of chips that were far better than real "official weight" chips. And sites like this one told me of so many more choices that I have.
Of course I now have 1600 faux clays and am going to be getting custom Nevada Jack ceramics, and am planning on a set of Samurais for Medium/Small tournaments and some type of clay low denom Cash game set.
I don't even play home cash games.
Help me.
: )
